Patent number: 9510797Abstract: In the integrated PET/MRI scanner provided with an RF coil for MRI and a plurality of PET detectors in the measuring port of the MRI scanner, the PET detectors are disposed with spaces therebetween and at least the transmitting coil elements of the RF coil for MRI are disposed between adjacent PET detectors. Here, the PET detectors are disposed in the circumferential direction of the measuring port with spaces therebetween and the transmitting coil elements are disposed in the axial direction of the measuring port. Alternatively, at least some of the PET detectors are disposed in the axial direction of the measuring port with spaces therebetween and the transmitting coil elements are disposed between adjacent PET detectors. The PET detectors can be DOI-type detectors capable of detecting position in the depth direction.Type: GrantFiled: October 25, 2010Date of Patent: December 6, 2016Assignees: NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF RADIOLOGICAL SICENCES, HAMAMATSU PHOTONICS K.K.Inventors: Taiga Yamaya, Fumihiko Nishikido, Takayuki Obata, Mikio Suga, Kazuyuki Saito, Mitsuo Watanabe, Eiichi Tanaka

Patent number: 9342903Abstract: When an image for PET attenuation correction is generated from an MR image, the MR image captured by MRI is segmented into regions according to pixel values. In a region in which a radiation attenuation coefficient is considered to be uniform, a radiation attenuation correction value is determined by referring to an existing radiation attenuation correction value table. In a region including multiple tissues having different radiation attenuation coefficients, a radiation attenuation correction value is determined by referring to a standard image. In such a manner, an image for PET attenuation correction in which tissues having similar pixel values in the MR image but different attenuation coefficients for radiation can be distinguished and that can accommodate individual differences and an affected area such as a space occupying lesion (for example, a cancer, abscess, or the like) and an organic defect is generated.Type: GrantFiled: March 28, 2013Date of Patent: May 17, 2016Assignees: NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF RADIOLOGICAL SERVICES, SHIMADZU CORPORATIONInventors: Taiga Yamaya, Takayuki Obata, Mikio Suga, Hiroshi Kawaguchi, Yoshiyuki Yamakawa

Publication number: 20130239690Abstract: An MRE excitation apparatus (100) comprises an excitation device (110) that generates vibration, and a transmitter (120) that is made using a non-magnetic material and that, with one end-section being fastened to the excitation device (110) and the other end-section being connected with a living body (300), and that extends in direction that vibration is transmitted from the excitation device (110) and transmits longitudinal vibration from the excitation device (110) to the living body (300). The frequency of the vibration is 125 Hz or greater, the amplitude of the vibration is 0.2 mm or greater, and the primary natural frequency of the longitudinal vibration of the transmitter (120) is further on the higher side than the frequency band of the vibration from the excitation device (110).Type: ApplicationFiled: August 25, 2011Publication date: September 19, 2013Applicant: NATIONAL UNIVERSITY CORPORATION CHIBA UNIVERSITYInventors: Shigeru Tadano, Itsuro Kajiwara, Kazuhiro Fujisaki, Seishin Takao, Gen Nakamura, Yu Jiang, Mikio Suga
