  • Patent number: 4919195
Abstract: An air conditioner system for an automotive vehicle includes means for detecting the difference between a desired temperature of the air in a vehicular cabin and the temperature therein within a predetermined range to increase the blower speed and simultaneously the path area of an air mix door, through which the air is introduced into a heating air source, so as to increase the conditioning air temperature toward the target temperature without changing the temperature in the vehicular cabin. This increasing of blower speed and discharge temperature can occur at the expiration of a given time interval or by a manual actuation.

  • Patent number: 4743184
Abstract: A rotary compressor features a passage structure and valve arrangement which, under given modes of operation, permits relatively hot gaseous compressed working fluid to be introduced into a chamber proximate a bearing which is subject to cooling and the lubricant therein subject to dilution by working fluid under such conditions, in a manner to warm the bearing and its immediate surroundings and obviate the dilution problem.

  • Patent number: 4743183
Abstract: A first refrigerant gas passage is provided for conveying refrigerant gas under pressure to rearward ends of rotor vane slots through a rear bearing in order to supply back pressure to the rotor vane slots as well as to supply lubricant to the rear bearing. In addition to the first refrigerant gas passage, there is provided a second refrigerant gas passage for conveying refrigerant gas under pressure to forward ends of the rotor vane slots and a front bearing without conveying through the rear bearing and the rearward ends of the rotor vane slots in order to supply lubricant to the front bearing as well as to apply uniform back pressure on vanes, particularly at the forward and rearward ends thereof.

  • Patent number: 4601177
Abstract: In an air cooling system including a compressor, a condenser, a liquid tank, an expansion valve and an evaporator which are connected through conduits to form a closed circuit refrigeration system, there is provided a refrigerant over-charging checking system for preventing the system from being overcharged with the refrigerant. The checking system comprises a service valve mounted in a conduit of the system and having therein a refrigerant inlet passage for flowing the refrigerant into the closed refrigeration system, a check mechanism associated with the service valve to block the refrigerant inlet passage when electrically energized, and a liquid level sensor associated with the liquid tank to electrically energize the check mechanism when a refrigerant level in the liquid tank rises to a predetermined level.

  • Patent number: 4450898
Abstract: An air conditioner for an automotive vehicle having an air conditioner compressor driven with a crankpulley of an internal combustion engine, with an electromagnetic clutch energized, and linked with an evaporator for cooling and dehumidifying the intake air and an air mixing door located upstream of a heater core for heating the intake air.

  • Patent number: 4448034
Abstract: A variable thermostat-type air conditioning system for an automotive vehicle passenger compartment has a dehumidification switch. When a driver depresses the dehumidification switch the compressor begins to operate as if the temperature-adjusting lever were set to the extreme COOL end. Therefore, it is possible to dehumidify or cool the passenger compartment without adjusting the temperature-adjusting lever which is already set to an appropriate lever position. The air-conditioning system according to the present invention comprises a temperature-sensitive element, a variable resistor linked to the temperature-adjusting lever, the dehumidification switch to short the variable resistor, and a thermocontrol amplifier, in addition to a standard compressor, evaporator, etc.

  • Patent number: 4440212
Abstract: An air conditioner for an automotive vehicle having (1) a duct having at its one end an air inlet, at the upper part of its other end a ventilation outlet, and at the lower part of its other end a floor outlet linked to a defroster outlet; (2) a blower disposed at the air inlet for introducing air into the duct; (3) an evaporator disposed downstream of the duct for cooling the air introduced by the blower; (4) a heater core disposed downstream of the evaporator whose upper side is provided with a first bypass for bypassing the cooled air from the evaporator; (5) an air mixing door disposed upstream of the heater core for adjusting the amount of air passing through the heater core; (6) an air mixing chamber disposed downstream of the heater core and first bypass for mixing the air from the first bypass and heater core, the ratio of the air depending on the angle of the air mixing door; (7) a second bypass disposed between the heater core and the floor outlet for introducing part of the heated air from the heat
