  • Patent number: 8262488
Abstract: A silicone boot for a constant velocity universal joint includes a larger diameter portion attached to an outer joint member of a constant velocity universal joint, a smaller diameter portion attached to a shaft coupled with an inner joint member of the constant velocity universal joint, and a bellows portion, which is arranged between the larger diameter portion and the smaller diameter portion, and has peak portions and valley portions formed alternately with each other. The smaller diameter portion includes a shaft attachment portion having a radially outer surface in which a fitting groove for attachment of a boot band is formed, and a thin portion extending from the shaft attachment portion so as to be coupled with the bellows portion through intermediation of a thick portion and allowing buckling deformation with respect to the shaft attachment portion and the bellows portion.

  • Publication number: 20110018212
Abstract: Provided are a silicone boot for a constant velocity universal joint and a constant velocity universal joint, in which occurrence of cracks in a smaller diameter portion of the boot is suppressed and durability thereof is improved. The silicone boot for a constant velocity universal joint includes: a larger diameter portion (13) attached to an outer joint member (2) of a constant velocity universal joint; a smaller diameter portion (14) attached to a shaft (9) coupled with an inner joint member (4) of the constant velocity universal joint; and a bellows portion (15), which is arranged between the larger diameter portion (13) and the smaller diameter portion (14), and has peak portions (7) and valley portions (6) formed alternately with each other.

  • Publication number: 20090214286
Abstract: The present invention provides a boot for a constant velocity universal joint that is compact in shape and can prevent a bellows section from becoming caught at an inner ring opening section. The present invention is the boot for a constant velocity universal joint including a large diameter section 11 that is attached to an opening end section of an outer joint component 4 of a constant velocity universal joint 2, a small diameter section 12 that is attached to a shaft connected to an inner joint component 6 of the constant velocity universal joint 2, and a bellows section 13 that is provided between the large diameter section 11 and the small diameter section 12 and has peaks 16 and valleys 15 alternately disposed along an axial direction. A peak 16 is provided adjacent to the large diameter section 11 and the small diameter section 12.

  • Patent number: 7217194
Abstract: A constant velocity universal joint includes an outer joint member has three track grooves extending axially in an inner circumference portion thereof with a roller guide surface extending axially on each side of the respective track grooves; a tripod member has three trunnions protruding in the radial direction; and a roller mechanism is mounted in each of the trunnions of the tripod member. The roller mechanism is capable of swinging and oscillating freely with respect to the trunnions, and has a roller guided along the roller guide surface in the direction parallel to the axis line of the outer joint member. An outer peripheral surface of the roller, which is made by ground-finishing, is in contact with the roller guide surface, and has a surface roughness of 0.35 Ra or less.

  • Publication number: 20050059497
Abstract: An object is to stabilize the induced thrust and the sliding resistance at a low level after expiration of the endurance life and exhibit favorable NVH characteristics. A constant velocity universal joint comprises: an outer joint member having three track grooves formed to extend axially in an inner circumference portion thereof, and having a roller guide surface formed to extend axially on each side of the respective track grooves; a tripod member having three trunnions protruding in the radial direction; and a roller mechanism mounted in each of the trunnions of the tripod member. The roller mechanism is capable of swinging and oscillating freely with respect to the trunnions, and has a roller that is guided along the roller guide surface in the direction parallel to the axis line of the outer joint member. In the constant velocity universal joint, the outer peripheral surface of the roller has a surface roughness of 0.35 Ra or less.
