  • Patent number: 6401583
Abstract: An arbitrarily positioned lateral perforation forming apparatus can form a lateral perforation at an arbitrary position or selected position in a continuous web paper at high precision by a simple control system with small control amount. A lateral roulette cylinder projecting a lateral roulette edge on its outer periphery, arranged on one side of the continuous web paper and rotating in a traveling direction of the continuous web paper; and a receptacle cylinder projecting an edge projecting portion opposing to the lateral roulette edge of the lateral roulette cylinder on its outer periphery, arranged on the other side of the continuous web paper, rotating in the traveling direction of the continuous web paper, and forming a lateral perforation in the continuous web paper when the edge receptacle portion opposes the roulette edge; are rotated in synchronism with traveling of the continuous web paper in the drive system.

  • Patent number: 6394450
Abstract: A delivery fan, comprising sets of blades at constant circumferential spacings, receives therebetween the sheets successively falling from an overhead infeed conveyor. The sheets fall off the delivery fan on hitting a set of abutment tines arranged interdigitatingly with the fan blades. A stack of sheets thus formed on a retractable platform is unloaded therefrom onto a delivery conveyor. A temporary sheet holder is provided which is angularly displaceable about the delivery fan axis between a working position, where it temporarily receive the sheets falling off the delivery fan pending unloading of the preformed stack of sheets, and a retracted position where the sheet holder allows the sheets to fall from the delivery fan onto the platform. The sheet holder is mounted to the shaft of the delivery fan via a pair of overrunning clutches and sprung from the retracted toward the working position.

  • Patent number: 6332388
Abstract: An arbitrarily positioned longitudinal perforation forming apparatus includes a longitudinal roulette cylinder composed of a first rotary shaft arranged on one side of a continuous web paper and at least one disc-shaped longitudinal roulette edge supported on the first rotary shaft so as to be adjustably positioned in an axial direction of the first rotary shaft. The apparatus further includes a receptacle cylinder composed of a second rotary shaft arranged on the other side of the continuous web paper in parallel relationship with the first rotary shaft and at least one disc-shaped edge receptacle plate supported so as to be adjustably positioned in an axial direction of the second rotary shaft. A projecting edge receptacle portion on the outer periphery of the edge receptacle plate opposes the longitudinal perforation edge of the longitudinal roulette cylinder.

  • Patent number: 6042672
Abstract: In a method of making sealed paper, a web of paper is unrolled and fed, while under a given tension, from a paper roll, and is single-folded or multiple-folded. Prior to the or each folding step, the unrolled web of paper is treated by having an adhesive applied to margin portions thereof destined to be margins of the sealed paper on an inner surface thereof other than along a fold line at which the paper is to be folded. The folded web of paper is then cut to yield a number of sealable paper units so treated and folded as above. The method further includes pressing the sealable paper units to have them sealed with the adhesive applied and thereafter discharging the sealed paper units each of which represents a sealed paper. The method may further include printing a given message or information on a sheet of paper before the paper is rolled into the above mentioned paper roll.

  • Patent number: 5139248
Abstract: The present invention relates to a printed paper folding apparatus comprising: conveyor means provided from the upstream side of a folded paper conveying path located below a folder unit to a folded paper cutting position on the downstream side thereof so as to convey a sheet of printed paper which is folded and discharged by the folder unit in a zigzag fashion; a folded paper separating position indicating device provided along the paper conveying path so as to indicate separating positions at intervals of a predetermined number of folds of the printed paper which is folded and discharged by the folder unit; a folder paper cutting device provided by the cutting position so as to automatically cut the paper, which is continuously conveyed by the conveyor means along the conveying path, into an upstream portion and a downstream portion relative to the conveying path; and a paper sorting device provided near the cutting position so as to automatically sort the upstream portion of the paper from the downstream p
