  • Patent number: 9372094
Abstract: An approach is provided for correlating and navigating between a live camera image and a prerecorded panoramic image. A mapping and augmented reality application correlates at least one live image with a prerecorded panoramic image, when a first location of a device used to capture the at least one live image substantially matches or falls within a predetermined proximity of a second location of a device used to capture the panoramic prerecorded image. The mapping and augmented reality application causes, at least in part, alternating of the at least one live image and the prerecorded panoramic image in a presentation on a screen of the device capturing the at least one live image.

  • Patent number: 8818992
Abstract: Content search involves receiving a user-formulated search query via a user device. The search query is submitted to two or more search domains. The search domains represent separate data repositories accessible via the user device. Results objects are received from the two or more search domains in response to the search query. The results objects are ranked using different ranking criterion by the respective search domains from which the search results were received. A rank value for each of the results objects is determined based on a single ranking criterion. The results objects are ordered based at least in part on the rank values determined using the single ranking criterion and sent for display in a user interface of the user device.

  • Publication number: 20120310717
Abstract: An approach is provided for controlling perspective display of advertisement using sensor data. The advertising engine causes, at least in part, a presentation of at least one advertisement banner at a device, the advertisement banner including at least one perspective display of one or more advertisement items. The advertising engine determines positional information based, at least in part, on one or more sensors associated with the device. The advertising engine processes and/or facilitates a processing of the positional information to cause, at least in part, a rendering of the at least one perspective display, the one or more advertisement items, or a combination thereof in the at least one advertisement banner.

  • Publication number: 20100070482
Abstract: Content search on a device involves receiving a search request at a search engine of a device. The search request is associated with a search category. In response to the search request, a plug-in module of the search engine is selected based at least in part on a search category of the request. An extensible markup-language-formatted definition document is received from the plug-in module. The definition document includes an arrangement of data particular to the search category. A results document is formed based on the definition document and sent from the search engine to a search result renderer operating concurrently on the device with the search engine.
