Abstract: In some aspects, control circuitry receives and stores a user-specified time duration to associate with a skip-forward command. When the user later issues a skip-forward command to advance playback of a media asset to a desired location, the control circuitry retrieves the stored time duration, and determines an expected overshoot value associated with the skip-forward command. The control circuitry then compensates for the expected overshoot by calculating a new location in the media asset based on both the retrieved time duration and expected overshoot value. Upon advancing to the new location, the media asset is played back in a fast-forward mode, e.g., at a speed higher than normal speed.

Abstract: Methods and systems are presented for transferring an interactive feature from a first device to a second device. Two users may be consuming a media asset. Upon receipt of a command to active an interactive feature, a determination is made whether a user who did not activate the interactive feature is interested in the media asset. Upon that determination, a timer is activated that tracks an amount of time for which the interactive feature is active and a determination is made whether a threshold time period has been met. Once the threshold time period is met, a device associated with the user that activated the interactive feature is identified and the users are prompted to transfer the interactive feature to the device.

Abstract: Methods and systems are described for downloading media assets efficiently and quickly before loss of network connectivity. The method may allow a user to download portions of a media asset in different versions to download a maximum portion of the media asset before loss of network connectivity. Certain versions of media assets may be downloaded more quickly than other versions of media assets. The method may also allow a user to view partially downloaded media assets without network connectivity. The method may also replace portions of media assets downloaded in a first version with portions of the media assets in a second version once network connectivity is restored.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided herein for providing a storyline based media content. At least two storylines may be identified, each storyline specifying an order of providing a plurality of episodes from a plurality of interrelated series. Identifiers of the plurality of episodes are displayed. Then identifiers of a first set of the plurality of episodes that are relevant to the first storyline are graphically modified to indicate relevance to the first storyline. Identifiers of a second set of the plurality of episodes that are relevant to the second storyline are also graphically modified to indicate relevance to the second storyline. A first and second storyline identifier are generating for display to enable storyline selection. The interrelated series are then provided to a user device in the order specified by the selected storyline.

The system may detect that multiple people are consuming a media asset and may determine, based on a respective profile of each person, whether that person is interested in the media asset. When the system detects that the user is disregarding the media asset, the missed portion of the media asset is stored if the user is interested in the media asset, and is not stored if the user is not interested in the media asset.

Abstract: Methods and systems are described for enhancing the viewing experiences of users consuming a content item. The system identifies identifying portions for playback and allows a user to select a playback rate to display the selected portions at. This creates a highlight reel for the user to watch at their selected playback rate.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for monitoring a user having a chronic gastrointestinal indication. A questionnaire regarding a plurality of conditions is provided on a repeating basis. Each such condition at least partly arises from the gastrointestinal indication. Questionnaire questions are each associated with a corresponding condition and provide an affordance that allows the user to select between low and high values in accordance with user association with the condition. Responses are stored in a data store associated with the user. A user requested report comprising a graphical quality of life measure of the user is provided based upon temporal questionnaire answers. Questionnaire information is communicated to a remote device for medical practitioner evaluation and computation of a temporal overall quality of life score based on a plurality of component quality of life scores, each of which is associated with a condition in the plurality of conditions.
