    Abstract: This invention relates to a composition and method for producing a surface layer with a high specific surface on iron, aluminum, zinc, and on technical alloys of these metals. The composition provides an adhesive layer that may be subsequently used to securely bind other materials, and organic materials in particular, to the surface of the metal or alloy. The composition may be applied by spraying under pressure, by dipping, or as a paste at ambient temperatures. The composition is predominantly amorphous, and provides a uniform, stable, and economical method of priming metals for the reception of a final outer coating.
