  • Patent number: 3943150
Abstract: A salt of .beta.-diethylaminoethyl ester of p-aminobenzoic acid with the acetal of polyvinyl alcohol and glyoxalic acid which has the formula: ##EQU1## wherein n is a degree of polymerization within the range of from 100 to 1,200; x is a degree of substitution within the range of from 5 to 30 mol.%. The compound has local anaesthetic properties.A method of preparing said salt of .beta.-diethylaminoethyl ester of p-aminobenzoic acid and the acetal of polyvinyl alcohol and glyoxalic acid which comprises reacting the acetal of polyvinyl alcohol and glyoxalic acid with .beta.-diethylaminoethyl ester of p-aminobenzoic acid in an aqueous medium, followed by isolating the desired product from the resulting solution.
