  • Patent number: 11440476
Abstract: An extendable/retractable step assembly mounted at the rear assembly of a flatbed trailer to permit access to and from the ground to the flatbed trailer. The extendable/retractable stair assembly includes a pair of steps that are staggered and can be extended out of the rear assembly during use and then retracted therein when not in use. The steps can be manually extended/retracted or they can be automatically controlled. A safety interlock is also disclosed to automatically retract the steps when the trailer emergency brakes are released.

  • Patent number: 11110843
Abstract: A drop-deck trailer for hauling heavy loads (e.g., jumbo glass panes) positioned on each side of the drop-deck and which minimizes trailer twisting/leaning is provided. The drop deck includes a plurality of transversely-mounted A-frames that are coupled through an anti-torsion structure (ATS) to each other and to at least two trailer main beams at an elevated front deck and at a rear portion of the drop-deck for transferring the load from each side of the trailer and into the at least two main beams. The ATS includes tie bars for connecting the tops of the A-frames together, a front support for connecting the forward-most A-frame to the main beams and an end support for connecting the rear-most A-frame to the main beams. The ATS minimizes twisting/leaning of the trailer without adding any significant weight to the trailer itself. This permits the transport of increased payload on the trailer, including a continuous tarp for covering the payload during transport.

  • Patent number: 9668460
Abstract: A reduced-weight poultry cage is used in conjunction with a reduced-weight trailer to transport live poultry for maximizing the poundage of poultry being transported while reducing the number of trips and fuel expenses. The poultry cage includes a combination of aluminum and plastic elements that reduce cage weight, provide for nesting of cages in stacks as well as easy replacement of failed parts. Furthermore, a drop-deck aluminum trailer with a reduced floor and guide rail alignment stops allows for a durable yet lightweight trailer that can haul a plurality of stacks of these poultry cages, thereby maximizing cubic feet availability while being compliant with various road and bridge laws.

  • Patent number: 8888135
Abstract: A flatbed trailer design that uses clamps, or a clamp and an L-bracket, to secure aluminum main beams to their respective suspension hangers without penetrating the lower flange portion of the main beams. Where the main beams are I-shaped, a clamp secures a part of the lower flange portion on each side of the main beam web to a support plate that is welded to the suspension hanger. Where the main beams are L-shaped, a clamp secures a part of the lower flange portion to the support plate that is welded to the suspension hanger; an L-bracket is then used on the other side of the L-shaped main beam to secure the main beam web to the support plate.

  • Patent number: 6283538
Abstract: A flatbed trailer design that unitizes the three main components of a trailer bed, the main rails, the cross members and the floor, to create a lightweight and stronger trailer. The trailer design comprises two main rails having dual webs and a plurality of shouldered cross members. These dual web main rails and shouldered cross members have top flanges that are formed by the upper plane of the flooring members. In addition, intermediate flooring supports are used between cross members. A flooring/cross member design for box-type (e.g., van) trailers, box-type bodies or even container bodies, whose top flanges of the cross members are formed by the upper plane of the flooring and whose flooring supports are intermediate, exhibiting a combined lower height. This result provides more interior space for these type of trailers while maintaining, or even reducing, the size of the cross member.

  • Patent number: 5425608
Abstract: A coil rack for preventing the rolling of circularly-shaped payloads on a flatbed trailer. The coil rack has a base that can be releasably secured to the flatbed trailer. A stop surface extends upwardly and perpendicularly from the base to prevent the payload from rolling. An "L-shaped" flange extends from the bottom of the base and engages a corresponding "L-shaped" channel in the head of an "I-beam" which forms a portion of the flatbed trailer. A brace surface is also coupled between the stop surface and the base for strength. The use of pairs of these coil racks, one on each side of the payload, along the length of the flatbed trailer, prevents the payload from rolling.
