  • Patent number: 10575566
Abstract: A garment (10) comprising a grip coating located on inner and outer surfaces of a garment section (12) so as to generate in use friction between a wearer's skin and the garment (10) and friction between the garment (10) and an external contact surface. The grip coating includes a first array of grip elements (14) located on the inner surface of the garment section (12) and a second array of grip elements (16) located on the outer surface of the garment section (12). The first and second arrays are arranged relative to each other so that the grip elements (14,16) of the first and second arrays are offset relative to each other and do not overlie or overlap each other.

  • Patent number: 9828723
Abstract: A method of forming a textile element (10) for use as a structural support component in a garment is provided. The method includes providing a fabric strip (12) having a plush surface (16). A molten thermoplastic coating (14) is applied to the plush surface (16) of the fabric strip (12) so that the molten thermoplastic coating (14) penetrates the plush surface (16). The molten thermoplastic coating (14) is allowed to cool or cure and solidify so as to embed at least surface yarns of the plush surface (16) in the thermoplastic coating (14) and thereby form a composite structure at a juncture (J) between the thermoplastic coating (14) and the plush surface (16).

  • Publication number: 20110266254
Abstract: A method of manufacturing a textile fabric article comprises the steps of: (i) applying an uncured silicone elastomer (10) requiring UV radiation to trigger curing thereof to at least one portion of a carrier element (12); (ii) feeding the carrier element (12) and a piece of textile fabric (14) between movable co-acting compression members (16,18) so that the uncured silicone elastomer (10) is located between the carrier element (12) and the piece of textile fabric (14); (iii) exposing the uncured silicone elastomer (10) on the carrier element (12) to UV radiation upstream of the co-acting compression members (16,18); (iv) curing the uncured silicone elastomer (10) or allowing the uncured silicone elastomer (10) to cure to bond the silicone elastomer (10) to at least the piece of textile fabric (14); and (v) applying pressure to the carrier element (12) and the piece of textile fabric (14) via the co-acting compression members (16,18) for at least part of the curing process.
