  • Patent number: 6018872
Abstract: A method is disclosed for pressing a preassembled ball joint cartridge into a bearing eye of a tie rod end, with the ball joint cartridge comprising a ball joint pin, a bearing shell surrounding the joint ball, and a bearing housing that surrounds the bearing shell and is pressed into the bearing eye. In order to be able to press a joint cartridge of this type reliably, exactly, and efficiently into an unmachined bearing eye, the following procedures are performed: the tie rod end with the bearing eye is placed on a receiving device located on a press table. The ball joint cartridge is placed with its bearing housing in the bearing eye in such fashion that initially only the bearing shell in the end conical area engages, with contact, a matching opposite cone of the bearing eye, while the bearing housing of the joint cartridge still has play in the bearing eye. The bearing eye is centered coaxially with respect to a pressing device and aligned axially and perpendicularly with respect thereto.

  • Patent number: 5439242
Abstract: A support arrangement for radius arms has an outer support arrangement part, an inner support arrangement part, an elastomer body located between the outer and inner support arrangement parts and a stop located at one end of one of the support arrangement parts to limit relative motions of the outer and inner support arrangement parts in one direction of a support arrangement center line. The stop has a centering surface concentric with the center line of the support arrangement part carrying the stop and facing towards the support arrangement part arranged to be brought into contact therewith. The centering surface, in a predetermined position of the support arrangement parts, is at a distance from the end of the adjacent support arrangement part.

  • Patent number: 5395176
Abstract: A ball joint has a joint pin with a spherical head received by a bearing shell arranged in the joint housing. Notwithstanding bearing-shell wear which occurs, the radial guidance of the spherical head in the bearing shell remains largely constant over the lifetime of the ball joint. For that purpose, the bearing shell, through which passes a slot extending transversely relative to the circumferential direction, bears with a cylindrical part of its circumferential surface against a cylindrical wall portion of the joint housing and is radially prestressed relative to the axis of the cylindrical wall portion between the joint housing and the equatorial diameter of the spherical head.

  • Patent number: 5165803
Abstract: An elastic link bearing for wheel suspensions is provided in which under the effect of axial forces, two elastomeric bushes which receive the link lug and belong to two identical bearing elements insertable into the link lug from its end faces, are subjected to uniform stress. Knocking noises during the relief of the bearing are prevented. Each of the elastomeric bushes is vulcanized onto respective rotatably mounted intermediate sleeves carrying a vulcanized-on connecting bush having a stop flange and being pressable into one of the end faces of the link lug. The intermediate sleeves are supported on one another under axial load within the link lug.

  • Patent number: 5024056
Abstract: In a brake apparatus for a hydraulic two-circuit brake installation of a road vehicle with static brake circuits, an outlet pressure space is provided for one of these brake circuits in which the brake pressure that is coupled into a static brake circuit of the vehicle, is adapted to be built up by the displacement in the same direction of a master cylinder piston which is also displaceable by the pedal force alone, and of a servo piston which is displaceable only when the brake force servo unit is intact.

  • Patent number: 4861119
Abstract: In a pressure modulator for an anti-lock vehicle wheel braking system, responsive to a change of volume of a modulation chamber, caused by a flange of a first central piston element cooperating with a piston step of a second piston element. The piston elements are located in a bore step of the pressure modulator housing which has a diameter which is larger than that of the modulation chamber. The two piston elements each have a displaceable piston flange for forming two sides of a control-pressure space, subject to outlet pressure of an auxiliary-pressure source, which causes the piston elements to be forces, counter to a pre-stress of a modulator spring engaging thereon, into a position which corresponds to a minimum volume of the modulation chamber and when subject to a valve-controlled relief of pressure in the control-pressure space, the piston elements assume the position corresponding to a maximum volume of the modulation chamber.
