  • Publication number: 20040090768
Abstract: A reflection mechanism for illuminating insignia on a computer system is provided. The reflection mechanism uses one or more angled reflectors that diffuse light through transparent insignia provided in the housing of the computer system. Such use of angled reflectors reduces hot spots typically attributable to direct light projection and provides uniform illumination of the transparent portions of the insignia.

  • Patent number: 6542362
Abstract: A computer system housing with a curved bezel that forms one or more sideways gap between a side of the computer housing chassis and the bezel attached to that side. Typically, the curved bezel is attached to the front of the chassis with each sideways gap extending perpendicularly from the front of the chassis to a predetermined width and stretching to predetermined length along the front of the chassis. The sideways gaps facilitate increased air inlet from the sides and allow efficient cooling of various system components that are mounted on the chassis and housed within the housing. One or more cooling fans may be mounted at different locations within the housing to optimize air circulation and, hence, cooling within the housing. The chassis may be partitioned into two separate sub-chassis for proper positioning of the cooling fans as well as to accommodate changes in computer system configurations with minimized retooling of the chassis.

  • Patent number: 6519140
Abstract: A bezel assembly for a computer enclosure includes a bezel and a hinge capable of hingedly joining the bezel to the computer enclosure. A computer system includes an enclosure, a bezel, and a hinge capable of hingedly joining the bezel to the enclosure. A method of replacing a first component with a second component in a computer system enclosure having a hinged bezel includes pivoting the hinged bezel away from the computer system enclosure and removing the first component from the computer system enclosure. The method further includes inserting the second component into the computer system enclosure and pivoting the hinged bezel toward the computer system such that the hinged bezel is adjacent the computer system enclosure.

  • Patent number: 6296333
Abstract: A casing for electronic, heat-emitting components, has a front provided with an ornamented bezel. Instead of a conventional ventilation grill in such front bezel, the bezel is bowed outwardly relative to the front edges of the sides of the casing. Ventilation is provided through the gaps between the back of the bezel and the front edges of the sides. The upper portion of the bezel may be formed with an opening to receive a media bezel having openings therein for removable disk drives, floppy disks and the like.
