  • Publication number: 20110011544
Abstract: Apparatus and method for recovering organic cellulosic fibers from landfill materials (such as post consumer, municipal and industrial waste materials). The apparatus and method selectively introduces waste materials containing organic cellulosic fibers into a size reduction machine. The pre-cleaned waste materials are conveyed to a tank, drum, or tunnel type fiber recovery apparatus. The waste materials are subjected to mechanical and fluid fiberization for a selected period of time to produce useful products, such as cellulosic insulation with a total ash content equal to or less than 10%, as well animal and fowl bedding products that is substantially devoid of moisture content, among other products.

  • Patent number: 7144203
Abstract: A method and apparatus for conveying and vacuuming fibrous insulation material. A blower provides an air flow stream through an insulation feeder and a conveying hose for application of the insulation. The air flow stream velocity is selectively controlled responsive to a velocity sensor and/or a pressure sensor between the blower and insulation feeder. Preferably, an air valve connected between the blower outlet and the atmosphere is controlled responsive to the velocity sensor for thereby adjusting and controlling the air flow stream velocity. The insulation feed rate is controlled in response to the air flow pressure between the blower and feeder. An air separator and vacuum hose are selectively connected to the blower inlet such that the blower provides both an air vacuum flow stream through the separator and vacuum hose and a conveying air flow stream through the insulation feeder and conveying hose.

  • Patent number: 6364579
Abstract: An apparatus for separating fibrous material such as wool, wood, paper, cellulose, rockwool, fiberglass, etc., which is conveyed by and suspended in air. The separator can be used with pneumatic vacuum systems and pneumatic pressure conveying systems for separating fibrous material used for insulation. The apparatus includes a housing having an inlet, an air outlet and a fibers outlet. An air lock is provided at the fibers outlet for allowing fibrous material to exit but generally restricting the air from exiting therethrough. A screen supported on a support fixture located at the air outlet allows air to pass but generally restricts fibrous material from exiting. The fibrous material is allowed to accumulate on the screen thereby forming a fibrous filter mat for filtering smaller fibrous particles.

  • Patent number: 6092747
Abstract: In the broader aspects of the invention, there is provided a new and improved pneumatic conveying machine comprising a vertically sided hopper, and a material agitator/conditioner within the hopper. The hopper has a discharge opening at the bottom of the hopper. An air lock is positioned in the discharge opening through which shredded material is discharged into an air duct. The air blower is operatively connected to the air duct. The material can be reduced in density by the agitator/conditioner and transferred into the air stream by the air lock and conveyed continuously at a continuous rate of flow without plugging the air duct.

  • Patent number: 4458629
Abstract: An improved pelletized mammal or fowl litter, particularly useful for domestic pets and laboratory animals, is described. The litter provides a highly absorbent, antibacterial, antifungal and effective odor control bedding which is composed of defibered cellulosic materials mixed with chemicals, obtaining the properties described herein. The composition which is chemically of a basic pH is compressed into pellet form to provide improved handling and antitracking qualities.
