Abstract: A system for communicating between a store computer and locations in the les of a retail facility. A hard wired grid connects the store computer to a plurality of transceivers located in zones throughout the facility and the transceivers establish a wireless link to the locations. One embodiment is a product information display system in which the locations are fixed information display terminals, such as price displaying shelf tags. Another embodiment is an item tracking system, in which the locations are movable shopping carts or baskets.

Abstract: Devices and methods for providing emergency information. This emergency information device is a portable unit which may be carried to an emergency site. It is operative in response to parameter entries by the rescuer according to the victim's condition to provide sequential procedural displays of medical standard rescue steps for assisting the rescuer in carrying out the correct rescue operation. The standard rescue procedure is stored in a microprocessor which, if necessary, can be re-programmed to update to a new rescue standard procedure. It includes a recall feature operative for reverse searching of any desired step in the display if the condition of the victim changes during the rescue operation. Additionally, distinct tone signals are emitted at selected steps of the rescue operation procedure to assist the rescuer in memorizing and conducting such steps in the rescue.

Abstract: A moisture control system which overrides power supplied to electrically operated irrigation control valves such that a preset amount of moisture content of soil is not exceeded. The system is composed of two components, a remote detector, which is disposed in soil distant from its controller, and a controller which is placed near the valve it controls or the valve's source of power.The controller is electrically placed between the source of power for a valve, such as a time clock, or 24 VAC transformer and the valve. The controller receives its power from the source of power and the valve receives its power from the controller. The controller supplies electrically isolated power to the remote detector, sets the desired moisture level at the remote detector, and controls power to the valve.

Abstract: A filter inspection apparatus for inspecting filters comprises a support frame for supporting a substantially tubular filter having inner and outer surfaces for rotation about its axis, a source of EMR for directing radiation along one of the inner and outer surfaces of a filter, an EMR sensing unit mounted adjacent to the other of the surfaces for sensing EMR passing through the filter and generating a signal, and an indicator responsive to the signal for indicating passage of EMR through the filter.
