    Abstract: A method and apparatus for separating and recovering rubber, fiber, and steel from tires cryogenically cools and grinds tire rubber. The method reduces by 45 to 60 percent the amount of nitrogen required to cool and embrittle the rubber prior to being ground. Only the surface of the rubber is embrittled prior to grinding.
