    Abstract: The present invention provides a support stands as well as kits and methods for manufacturing the support stand that holds an elongate pole. In one embodiment, the stand comprises container receives a dish and a plurality of handle molds with one of a plurality of molds selectively positioned on the dish to define a cavity for the pole, for receiving a curable mixture to form the support stand, and optionally, a release solution applied to interior surfaces and, optionally, a plurality of mesh screens disposed in spaced-apart relation in the container. In an alternative embodiment, the stand comprises a container capable of receiving a filler, a removable lid, and a sleeve positioned within the container and conforming in cross-section to a post for being supported by the container. A kit for each stand and a method of manufacturing the support stands are disclosed.

    Abstract: A vehicle occupant safety restraint provides a child safety restraint for the three to fourteen year old age range. It can be used with or without a booster cushion or booster seat and would therefore be particularly suitable for minibuses so that the safety belt can still be used by adult passengers. A vertically extending strap is adapted to be located in a generally vertical position against a seat back. A seat belt webbing is attached to a tongue adapted to be located in a buckle mechanism fixed to a load-bearing part of the vehicle. An adjustable webbing guide connects the vertically extending strap to the seat belt webbing. The webbing guide is positively locked to the vertically extending strap at any one of a plurality of selectable locations on the vertically extending strap.

    Abstract: A process for producing organic substituted aromatic or heteroaromatic compounds including biaryl and biheteroaryl compounds in a two-step reaction. In the first step, the aromatic or heteroaromatic compound is borylated in a reaction comprising a borane or diborane reagent (any boron reagent where the boron reagent contains a B—H, B—B or B—Si bond) and an iridium or rhodium catalytic complex. In the second step, a metal catalyst catalyzes the formation of the organic substituted aromatic or heteroaromatic compound from the borylated compound and an electrophile such as an aryl or organic halide, triflate (OSO2CF3), or nonaflate (OSO2C4F9). The steps in the process can be performed in a single reaction vessel or in separate reaction vessels. The present invention also provides a process for synthesis of complex polyphenylenes starting from halogenated aromatic compounds.

Users merely specify their cultural preferences through the application programs and the operating system assigns a stack from the working memory for each specified category of cultural preference, and pushes onto the stack the location in the working memory of a file for the category of cultural preference specified, the file having been transferred from a locale database of files that contain code for formatting according to the cultural preferences.

Such event processing operates by selecting a stack frame from the invocation stack, and then determining whether a user specified event processing procedure capable of processing the event has been registered with the selected stack frame. If a user specified event processing procedure has been so registered, then the event is processed using the user specified event processing procedure as specified by a set of rules and options defined for the disposition and/or processing of the specific event. Optionally, it is then determined whether a language specific event processing procedure capable of processing the event has been registered with the selected stack frame.

    Abstract: An improved method and system is described for generalized handling of conditions occurring during program execution in a computer system having a multi-language Condition Manager (CM). A general signaling routine having object code for an external entry point suitable for linking to application programs written in any language supporting external calls is used. The signaling routine may be used by programs to eliminate the step of checking return codes from subroutines by coding the subroutine to automatically signal the proper condition to the CM which in conjunction with user defined condition handlers takes proper actions in response to the condition. A general condition token which may be used as a feedback token is defined as a condition identifier, a format code for the condition identifier, a severity code for the condition, a control code for a facility identifier, a facility identifier and an optional handle for instance specific information.

    Abstract: Apparatus measures airflow when used with a hood to control the flow of air through the hood. The apparatus measures air velocity when used with a pitot tube, a probe, or a grid. Differential pressure is measured, and absolute pressure is also measured. A temperature probe and a humidity probe are used to obtain temperature and humidity measurements, and the measurements are used to correct airflow and air velocity measurements for the effects of temperature, humidity, and absolute pressure. Back pressure is compensated for when the hood apparatus is used for airflow measurements by utilizing a pair of movable flaps that are mechanically inserted into and removed from the airflow. A differential pressure circuit includes a voltage controlled oscillator which is linearized over a specific operating range, and the specific operating range depends on the differential pressure being measured.
