  • Publication number: 20060145948
Abstract: A method and an apparatus for driving multi-segment display device are described. According to the present invention, problems of driving the electrode wire activation mode of the conventional liquid crystal display are solved by the driving waveforms. The driving waveforms of non-display area are in the OFF mode, where the non-display area has pixels in the OFF mode, driving electrode wires and background area. Problems of driving voltage wire activation mode are decreased, cost is lowered, and processing is simplified, so that every pixel of the display device will be controlled precisely.

  • Publication number: 20060119782
Abstract: The present invention describes a color cholesteric liquid crystal display and a method of making the same that overcomes the complicated manufacturing process, the difficulty of aligning the panel and designing the electrodes, and the complicated driving method of a prior art color cholesteric liquid crystal display. The invention integrates an ink-jet method with a polymerization method and uses a cholesteric liquid crystal for a simple ink-jet process. This technology can make a color cholesteric liquid crystal display having dual steady states. In addition, the technology can be used for the manufacture of color cholesteric liquid crystal displays.

  • Publication number: 20060109414
Abstract: A manufacturing process for flexible LCD panel has steps of disposing a first flexible substrate on a hard carrying base, forming an electrode pattern layer on said first flexible substrate, spreading an alignment layer on said electrode pattern layer, printing plural miniature structures on said alignment layer, curing one resin of the miniature to form semi-solid structures, forming a liquid crystal layer within the semi-interpenetrating polymer network miniature structure, mounting and controlled-pressing a second flexible substrate on the semi-interpenetrating polymer network miniature structure, and curing the second resin of miniature structure to form interpenetrating polymer network miniature structure and detaching said hard carrying base so as to complete the flexible LCD panel.

  • Publication number: 20060087490
Abstract: A transflective electrophoretic display device is disclosed. The device is comprised of a transparent top substrate and both top and bottom substrates have an electrode structure. A plurality of separated walls and an electrophoretic display solution including a plurality of chromatic particles and a transparent liquid are imposed between the two substrates. A device with a display liquid or a filter plate is used to generate a variety of lights such as monochromatic, color-level or true color having a mixture of red, green and blue. The device of the present invention integrates the merits of the reflective and transmitted displayer, and can be used outdoors, indoors or in darkness. Otherwise, a back light module can compensate for the contrast of the displayer effectively.

  • Publication number: 20060036464
Abstract: A method for reducing hypothetical bias in jury studies. The method utilizes an incentive-based approach to jury studies to help to reduce and/or remove hypothetical bias from these jury studies. The present invention uses an incentive that is to be awarded to an independent third person. This incentive is structured such that the closer the jury's decision comes to the correct result, the greater the amount of the incentive that is to be given to the independent third person. This structure is explained to the jury participating in the jury study such that the jury will desire to increase the amount of the incentive given to the independent third person. Accordingly, some of the previous issues of hypothetical bias, such as laziness, lack of attention to the evidence, and/or personal bias, are reduced or eliminated.
