The method includes: extracting patent elements from an input query patent, extracting search words from the elements, and searching for a similar patent; aligning the elements of the query patent with elements of a similar patent obtained through the search and calculating a matching rate; determining whether any element has been unmatched between the elements of the query patent and the elements of the similar patent and extracting an unmatched element; determining whether an additional search is necessary and causing a user to input a paraphrase suitable to additionally search for the unmatched element when an additional search is necessary; and receiving the paraphrase input by the user, changing the unmatched element for the received paraphrase, and returning to the searching for a similar patent using the changed paraphrase.
