  • Publication number: 20240382925
Abstract: Proposed are a method of preparing a cesium adsorbent and a cesium adsorbent prepared thereby. The method includes (a) preparing a powder mixture of coal mine drainage sludge (CMDS) powder, sodium hydroxide (NaOH) powder, and sulfur (S) powder and (b) heat-treating the powder mixture to prepare a cesium adsorbent. The cesium adsorbent increases the active ion exchange of Na and Cs and the bonding of S—Cs when adsorbing cesium ions, resulting in an average of 5 times higher Cs removal efficiency and adsorption capacity under various conditions compared to CMDS since CMDS relies on cesium adsorption by simple physical and electrostatic attraction. Moreover, the cesium adsorbent is eco-friendly and has excellent economic efficiency by utilizing waste CMDS.

  • Publication number: 20240319095
Abstract: A device and method for estimating a concentration distribution of a fluorescent tracer in a low permeability medium is proposed. The device may obtain images by photographing acrylic boxes containing respective mixtures prepared by combining and stirring each type of clay with fluorescent tracer solutions. The device may also calculate a light intensity for the fluorescent tracer solutions for each clay, derive a light intensity of each RGB channel for each type of clay, select a channel representing a gradual change in the light intensity, and derive a concentration versus intensity equation of the selected channel. The device may further obtain images by photographing a flow chamber at an early stage and late stage of diffusion, estimate a fluorescent tracer concentration by using the concentration versus intensity equation, and evaluate validity of an estimation result by comparing the estimated fluorescent tracer concentration with a modeling value.

  • Publication number: 20240280489
Abstract: Proposed is a method for estimating the mass of microplastics by using fluorescent staining. The method may include staining microplastic samples by using a Nile red solution, and capturing a fluorescent image of each of the stained microplastic samples after classifying the stained microplastic samples by mass. The method may also include analyzing the captured fluorescent image to quantify a fluorescence intensity thereof to build a database (DB) about a correlation between mass and fluorescence intensity of microplastics. The method may further include estimating a mass value of an unknown microplastic sample by comparing a fluorescence intensity of a fluorescent image of the unknown microplastic sample obtained by performing the staining and capturing of the unknown microplastic sample with data stored in the database.

  • Publication number: 20240280723
Abstract: Proposed is a geological hydrogen productivity evaluation system. The system may include a gas injection device configured to inject a reactive gas, a water vapor collecting device configured to collect water vapor generated in the gas injection device when the gas is injected. The system may also include a main reacting device in which a reaction between a solvent and a rock sample, which are loaded into the inside thereof, is performed using the gas supplied from the gas injection device. The system may further include a discharging device through which reactants generated by the reaction in the main reacting device are discharged, and a collecting device configured to collect gas from reactants produced by the reaction by being connected to the discharging device. The system may capture hydrogen from a reactant produced by the reaction of the rock sample in the main reacting device, in the collecting device.
