  • Publication number: 20080211732
Abstract: A driver chip for controlling a high-resolution display panel is presented. The driver chip is not much larger than a conventional driver chip that is currently used for lower resolution display panels. The driver chip applies data signals to the data lines of the display panel and gate control signals to a gate driver that is formed in the peripheral region of the display panel. The gate driver, which may be made of amorphous silicon TFTs, generates gate signals in response to the gate control signals from the driver chip and applies the gate signals to gate lines. Since the driver chip of the invention controls more gate lines and data lines than a conventional chip of about the same size, the driver chip may be easily adapted for display devices having multiple panels. Where multiple panels are used, the panels may be scanned simultaneously or sequentially.

  • Publication number: 20080204618
Abstract: A display substrate includes a substrate, a guard ring and a connecting line. The substrate includes a plurality of active areas, and each of the active areas has a pixel area and a peripheral area. The guard ring is formed on the substrate to enclose each of the active areas, and is formed from substantially the same layer as a pixel electrode that is formed in a unit pixel. The connecting line is formed from a different layer than the guard ring, to electrically connect the guard ring with pads. The connecting line is formed before forming an organic insulating layer, and thus the frequency and/or severity of patterning defects of the connecting line may be reduced or prevented. Accordingly, short circuits between the pads may be prevented, and the corrosion resistance of the display apparatus may be increased.

  • Publication number: 20080174706
Abstract: An array substrate includes a gate line, a data line, a thin-film transistor (TFT), a pixel electrode, a first sensor line, a second sensor line and a sensor electrode part. The TFT is electrically connected to the gate and data lines. The pixel electrode is formed in a unit area defined by the gate and data lines. The pixel electrode is electrically connected to the TFT. The first sensor line is substantially parallel with the gate line. The second sensor line is substantially parallel with the data line. The sensor electrode part is formed in the unit area and electrically connected to the first and second sensor lines. The sensor electrode part is adjacent to the pixel electrode in a large axis direction of the unit area.

  • Publication number: 20080170168
Abstract: A display panel includes a first substrate having a pixel thin film transistor thereon and a second substrate opposing the first substrate. The first substrate further includes a first insulation substrate having a display region in which the pixel thin film transistor is formed and a non-display region that encloses the display region, gate lines formed in the display region and electrically connected to the pixel thin film transistor, a driving part, including a driving thin film transistor, located in the non-display region and driving the pixel thin film transistor, and a dummy semiconductor layer formed in a peripheral area of the driving part.

  • Publication number: 20070296894
Abstract: A liquid crystal display (LCD) apparatus having a delta-type pixel structure, comprises a thin-film transistor (TFT) substrate, a color filter substrate and a liquid crystal layer. Electrodes on the TFT substrate are configured to block light leakage at boundaries between color filters. Light leakage at the color filter boundaries is blocked without having a black matrix on the color filter substrate.
