  • Patent number: 7648838
Abstract: Provided is a lysis method for cells or viruses, including: immobilizing a metal-ligand complex on a solid support; and mixing the complex immobilized on the support with a cell or virus solution. According to the lysis method, by immobilizing a chemical on a solid support to perform cell lysis, the dilution problem according to the addition of a cell lysis solution can be resolved and a separate process of removing the chemical is not required so as to reduce the steps upon LOC implementation. In addition, since a variety of solid supports, such as chips, beads, nanoparticles etc. can be used, cell lysis apparatuses of various forms can be fabricated.

  • Publication number: 20100000320
Abstract: A method and an apparatus for quantitatively detecting the unbalanced state of a rotating shaft and a clamping state of a workpiece clamped to a shaft are disclosed by solving with a nonlinear multivariable method a Lagrange kinematics equation to determine from acquired position, velocity, acceleration and torque signals of the rotating shaft an unbalanced amplitude variable and an unbalanced angle variable of the rotating shaft, optionally both with and without a workpiece. The motor driving the shaft is energized with a combined S-shaped and sinusoidal velocity profile with a position profile component, a velocity profile component, and an acceleration profile component. The components are selected such that the motor speed during the accelerating and decelerating stages does not change abruptly.

  • Patent number: 7144463
Abstract: The present invention relates to highly quenchable Fe-based rare earth magnetic materials that are made by rapid solidification process and exhibit good magnetic properties and thermal stability. More specifically, the invention relates to isotropic Nd—Fe—B type magnetic materials made from a rapid solidification process with a lower optimal wheel speed and a broader optimal wheel speed window than those used in producing conventional magnetic materials. The materials exhibit remanence (Br) and intrinsic coercivity (Hci) values of between 7.0 to 8.5 kG and 6.5 to 9.9 kOe, respectively, at room temperature. The invention also relates to process of making the materials and to bonded magnets made from the magnetic materials, which are suitable for direct replacement of anisotropic sintered ferrites in many applications.
