  • Publication number: 20100134532
Abstract: A method for driving a light source and maintaining its target white color coordinates despite of varied and decreased light source luminance includes detecting an amount of colored light generated from a plurality of colored light sources, comparing detected colored light to reference data and verifying that colored light source has the correct preset duty cycle colored light. If the colored light source is driven by the preset duty cycle, the method includes modifying the reference data based on the detected light from the colored light source and adjusting the amount of colored light by controlling a driving signal to the colored light sources based on the modified reference data.

  • Patent number: 7723924
Abstract: A backlight inverter includes a transformer boosting an input voltage at a ratio of a primary winding to a secondary winding of the transformer and outputting a first voltage and a second voltage; a protection level signal generator causing a phase delay between the first voltage and the second voltage, and generating a protection level signal, the protection level signal being a sum of the phase reversed first voltage and the second voltage; and an arc state detector comparing the protection level signal with a reference voltage and generating a detection signal; and a diving controller maintaining or stopping a supplying of an input voltage to the transformer in response to the detection signal, wherein in addition to the phase delay, another phase delay is caused by an open circuit in the transformer, so that a maximum value of the protection level signal is larger than the reference voltage and the input voltage is stopped.

  • Publication number: 20090261755
Abstract: An inverter circuit for a backlight device includes an inverter transformer which supplies a high AC voltage to a plurality of discharge tubes, a filter circuit connected to an output terminal of the inverter transformer, and an abnormal discharge detection circuit. The filter circuit passes a current signal having a high frequency component of the high AC voltage to the abnormal discharge detection circuit, and the abnormal discharge detection circuit detects an abnormal discharge current based on the current signal.
