    Abstract: Provided are an automatic gain control (AGC) apparatus using an efficient receiving structure of an impulse signal-based ultra wideband wireless communication system, and a method thereof. An AGC apparatus of an impulse signal-based wireless communication system guarantees an SNR received through an analog circuit unit, outputs correlation values with respect to an impulse preamble of the received signal, outputs the maximum value of the correlation values for each symbol among the correlation values, or divides a symbol period into a plurality of groups and obtains average values through a sum of each group to output the maximum value thereof.

    Abstract: A receiving apparatus of an ultra-wideband wireless system includes an analog-to-digital converter for sampling an analog signal into a digital signal, a serial-to-parallel converter for converting serial data input to the analog-to-digital converter into M:N parallel data, a matched filter bank unit for match-filtering the N parallel data, a cross-correlator bank unit for cross-correlating an output of the matched filter bank unit with a ternary code, a preamble boundary detecting unit for receiving an output signal of the cross-correlator bank unit to detect a starting boundary of a ternary code, a multi-path profile calculating unit for receiving an output signal of the cross-correlator bank unit to calculate multi-path phase and amplitude variation, a despreading unit for despreading an output of the matched-filter bank unit using a spreading code, and a data demodulating unit for receiving the despread value to determine a position and phase of a pulse.

    Abstract: Provided are a receiving apparatus, a receiving method, a phase tracking apparatus, and a phase tracking method of a pulse-based UWB wireless system, which are capable of tracking and compensating phases of signals modulated with different modulation schemes in the same pulse-based UWB receiver system. The receiving apparatus of the UWB wireless system includes an orthogonal channel generating unit for receiving a baseband signal to generate orthogonal channels, a boundary detecting unit for receiving output signals of the orthogonal channel generating unit to detect boundaries of preamble, header and payload signals, a phase tracking unit for tracking and compensating phases of the preamble, header and payload signals output from the boundary detecting units, and a demodulating unit for demodulating output signals of the boundary detecting unit and the phase tracking unit to output data bits.

    Abstract: The exemplary embodiment of present invention provides a sampling device and method in a wireless communication system that is capable of precisely measuring a distance by combining data blocks passing through at least two delay paths and performing sampling thereon. To this end, the sampling device includes: a delayer that delays received signals in a block unit; a delay path selector that selects any one of a plurality of delay paths to control the delayer to apply the selected delay path to each block; a sampler that performs sampling for each block delayed by the delayer; a signal processor that combines at least two sampling blocks sampled by the sampler; and a timing tracker that tracks reception timing of the combined signal, wherein the delayer includes at least two selectable delay paths.
