  • Patent number: 7492684
Abstract: A method and apparatus for controlling the tilt between the optical axis of an optical pick-up head and an optical disc applied in an optical disc drive is provided. A trapezoidal-wave signal in a radio frequency signal is received, wherein the trapezoidal-wave signal includes a rising edge and a falling edge. And a slope sum is calculated and so is an amplitude or a time domain area of the trapezoidal-wave signal. Then, a tangential tilt control parameter is generated according to the slope sum, and a radial tilt control parameter is generated according to the amplitude or the time domain area of the trapezoidal-wave signal. Thus, the optical disc drive is controlled according to the tangential tilt control parameter and the radial tilt control parameter for the optical axis of the optical pick-up head to be perpendicular to the optical disc.
