  • Patent number: 7399533
Abstract: The invention relates to a one-step fluoropolymer, especially polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF), coating for use on metals, especially use on metal fuel line and brake tubes, etc, to provide a protective barrier with superior chemical resistance, impact resistance and heat resistance as well as good flexibility. The coating composition contains, on a resin solids basis, 75-94 percent polyvinylidene fluoride resin, 5-20 percent acrylic resin, and 1-15 percent polyepoxide resin. The coating has excellent adhesion on metal substrates, particularly on non-pretreated galvanized steel, without the need for a primer coating.

  • Publication number: 20070054403
Abstract: Methods of prevention and correction of white blood cell interferences to the measurements of mean cell volume (MCV), red blood cell concentration (RBC) and hematocrit (Hct) of a blood sample are disclosed. The interference to MCV can be prevented by identifying a valley between the red blood cell and white blood cell modes on the red blood cell distribution histogram, defining a red blood cell region using the valley and calculating MCV within the defined region. Alternatively, a curve fit of the white blood cell population on the red blood cell distribution histogram can be used to exclude the white blood cells. RBC can be corrected by subtracting the white blood cell concentration obtained from the analysis of a second aliquot sample, when the white blood cell concentration (WBC) exceeds a predetermined criterion. Hct of the blood sample can be calculated using the obtained MCV and RBC.

  • Patent number: 7138196
Abstract: A perpendicular magnetic recording medium having good perpendicular magnetic anisotropy. The magnetic recording medium includes a tantalum (Ta) seedlayer and a ruthenium (Ru) underlayer. The magnetic recording layer can be fabricated from cobalt (Co) alloys. With the Ta seedlayer, the perpendicular anisotropy and c-axis orientation of the magnetic recording layer are greatly enhanced. Unity squareness is achievable as is a negative nucleation field. The magnetic recording medium can be formed by sputtering the various layers onto a substrate. Thus, a perpendicular magnetic recording medium suitable for mass production is provided.

  • Patent number: 7037966
Abstract: The invention relates to a fluoropolymer resin-based composition useful as a stain resistant coating. The coating composition contains organosilicates and at least one water-scavenger, and has an extended pot life. Articles coated with the composition show superior weatherability, dirt shedding, and stain resistance, without a negative effect on gloss. The coating is especially useful on roofing materials, wall materials and other outdoor building materials.

  • Patent number: 6472215
Abstract: A method of analyzing nucleated red blood cells (NRBCs) in a blood sample and further enumerating NRBCs is disclosed. The method includes lysing a first aliquot and a second aliquot of a blood sample separately with a first lysing reagent system and a second lysing reagent system; measuring the first sample mixture in a flow cell by DC, RF, and light scatter measurements; measuring cell distributions and counting remaining blood cells in the second sample mixture by DC impedance measurements in a non-focused flow aperture; analyzing blood cell distribution patterns obtained from measuring the first sample mixture and from measuring the second sample mixture respectively; and further performing a combined analysis to differentiate NRBCs from other cell types and determine numbers of NRBCs in the blood sample.
