Abstract: The present invention provides a method and system for controlling data output which can surely prevent data leakage from data output devices, and can also prevent data browsing by the remote operation which strikes weakness of a system. Security levels are set up for respective data output devices which output data, for respective data which is to be dealt with in a system, and for respective users who operate the system. In case the security level of a data output device is set to a device level, the security level of data to be dealt with in the system is set to a data level, the security level of a user is set to a user level, data output from the data output device is allowed when such conditions are satisfied that the device level is larger than the data level and that the device level is equal to or smaller than the user level.
