  • Patent number: 6544928
Abstract: The present invention provides a virus capable of specifically infecting and growing within a member of algae Heterocapsa sp. A method for isolating the above virus comprises a process of: filtrating with a filter a liquid sample containing a member of algae Heterocapsa sp. infected with a virus capable of specifically infecting and growing within said Heterocapsa sp.; inoculating the obtained filtrate into a culture solution of a member of algae Heterocapsa sp. and culturing; and cloning the above virus by performing a limiting dilution for a culture solution wherein said Heterocapsa sp. is observed to be lysed. The present invention provides an agent for preventing red tide, which comprises, as an active ingredient, the above virus. Furthermore, the present invention provides a method for preventing red tide, which comprises dispersing the above virus in red tide fouled-waters.

  • Patent number: 6333576
Abstract: A brushless motor for a vehicle air conditioner has a motor holder having an accommodation portion, a stator having a center piece fastened to a bottom of the accommodation portion and a core on which a winding is wound, and an exciting circuit disposed below the bottom to supply an exciting current to the winding. A terminal of the exciting circuit is upwardly extended to an upper side of the core through a through hole formed in the bottom and a terminal accommodation hole formed in the center piece to be connected to the winding. Liquid having entered the accommodation portion is restricted from falling through the through hole of the bottom by an O-ring disposed to surround the through hole and is drained through a drain opening formed in the bottom. As a result, a connection portion between the terminal and the winding and the exciting circuit are restricted from making contact with liquid.

  • Patent number: 6121700
Abstract: A brushless motor includes motor holder having a plate, a stator attached to the plate and a rotor having a rotary shaft. The rotary shaft has a lower end that protrudes from the stator. A sensor magnet is located near the lower end of the rotary shaft. The plate has a through hole through which the sensor magnet passes. This structure allows a unit including the stator, the rotor and the sensor magnet to be pre-assembled. The unit is then secured to the motor holder. This permits a set of standardized parts to be attached to a non-standard part in one step, which makes assembly more efficient.

  • Patent number: 6107708
Abstract: A brushless motor includes a stator attached to a motor case and a rotor. A circuit substrate is attached to the motor case. The substrate includes an electric circuit, which supplies electric current to the stator thereby rotating the rotor. A fan generates and moves air in accordance with rotation of the rotor. A duct guides some of the air moved by the fan to the stator. A flange extends from the stator. The air guided by the duct flows along the flange. This structure reduces the size of the brushless motor while increasing its power.

  • Patent number: 5744890
Abstract: A brush structure for a motor is provided for realizing an equalization of wear of brushes without causing an early wear of a specific brush while not necessitating a complicated conduction controlling device. A first brush, which is one of four brushes, conducted at both Lo mode and Me mode is formed to have a larger sliding contact area for contacting a commutator slidably compared with a sliding contact area of a second brush which is conducted at Hi mode only. Current density in the first brush at Lo mode and Me mode becomes smaller than current density at Hi mode.

  • Patent number: 5648695
Abstract: A brush apparatus for a rotary electric machine has a brush with a pigtail, a brush holder and a spring. The brush holder is formed with a slit and a stopper piece. The pigtail is passed through the slit when the brush is inserted into the brush holder, and thereafter the stopper piece is bent to close an opening the slit. Thus, the brush apparatus simplifies an inserting operation of the brush to the brush holder and prevents the brush and the spring from coming off due to wear of the brush.

  • Patent number: 5238704
Abstract: A method and apparatus for coating insulating materials onto the outer surface of an armature of an electric motor whereby insulating material is inhibited from being coated on a commutator and a driving shaft associated with the armature by covering the commutator and a portion of the driving shaft with a cap and directing an air flow through a gap formed between the cap and the commutator and the driving shaft such that air is discharged near a boundary between a commutator base and the armature, thus preventing insulating material from entering the gap and coating the commutator or the portion of the driving shaft.
