Publication number: 20080294433Abstract: A text-speech mapping method. Silence segments for incoming speech data are obtained. Incoming transcript data is preprocessed. The incoming transcript data comprises a written document of the speech data. Possible candidate sentence endpoints based on the silence segments are found. A best match sentence endpoint is selected based on a forced alignment score. The next sentence is set to begin immediately after the current sentence endpoint, and the process of finding candidate sentence endpoints, selecting the best match sentence endpoint, and setting the next sentence is repeated until all sentences for the incoming speech data are mapped. The process is repeated for each mapped sentence to provide word level mapping.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 27, 2005Publication date: November 27, 2008Inventors: Minerva Yeung, Ping Du, Nan N. Patent number: 7392275Abstract: A method and apparatus for including in a processor instructions for performing horizontal intra-add operations on packed data. One embodiment of the processor is coupled to a memory. The memory has stored therein at least a first packed data. The processor performs operations on data elements in the first packed data to generate a plurality of data elements in a second packed data in response to receiving an instruction. At least two of the plurality of data elements in the second packed data store the results of an intra-add operation, at least one of these results coming from the operation on data elements of the first packed data. One embodiment of a software method utilizes horizontal intra-add instructions for performing butterfly computations as may be employed, for example, in Walsh-Hadamard transforms or in Fast-Fourier Transforms.Type: GrantFiled: June 30, 2003Date of Patent: June 24, 2008Assignee: Intel CorporationInventors: William W. Macy, Eric Debes, Minerva Yeung, Yen-Kuang Chen, Patrice Roussel

Patent number: 7388586Abstract: Methods and apparatus for representing speech in an animated image. In one embodiment, key point on the object to be animated are defined, and a table of trajectories is generated to map positions of the key points over time as the object performs defined actions accompanied by corresponding sounds. In another embodiment, the table of trajectories and a sound rate of the video are used to generate a frame list that includes information to render an animated image of the object in real time at a rate determined by the sound rate. In still another embodiment, a 2D animation of a human speaker is produced. Key points are selected from the Motion Picture Expert Group 4 (MPEG4) defined points for human lips and teeth.Type: GrantFiled: March 31, 2005Date of Patent: June 17, 2008Assignee: Intel CorporationInventors: Minerva Yeung, Ping Du, Chao Huang

Publication number: 20060221084Abstract: Embodiments of a method and system for generating an animated image are disclosed. Methods include obtaining a video of an object to be animated in which the object performs defined actions accompanied by corresponding sounds. Key points on the object to be animated are defined, and a table of trajectories is generated. The table of trajectories maps positions of the key points over time as the object performs each defined action. The table of trajectories and a sound rate of the video are used to generate a frame list that includes information to render an animated image of the object in real time at a rate determined by the sound rate. In one embodiment, a 2D animation of a human speaker is produced. Publication number: 20050188189Abstract: Management of resources in a computer system can reduce energy consumption of the system. This can be accomplished by monitoring application states for the software applications and/or monitoring thread states in a multi-threading system, and then makes resource adjustments in the system. The application states monitoring may be performed by monitoring the data buffers set up for temporary data used by software applications. Depending on the buffer levels, resources may be increased or decreased. Adjustments of resources may come in the form of changing the voltage and frequency of the processors in the system, and other means. Decreasing the resources may help reduce energy consumption. Management of resources may also be performed by monitoring the threads associated with one or multiple software applications in the system and controlling the dispatch of threads. A ready thread may be delayed to increase the opportunity for concurrent running of multiple threads.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 6, 2004Publication date: August 25, 2005Inventors: Minerva Yeung, Yen-Kuang Chen
