  • Patent number: 11942285
Abstract: An electronic device has a keyboard with an internal membrane. The membrane has a set of strain gauges configured to respond to a key press, such as when a collapsible dome collapses into contact with the membrane. The strain gauges are connected in a half Wheatstone bridge configuration and are positioned on the membrane in order to limit effects of temperature and subtle flexure of the membrane. The strain gauges are also configured to magnify detection of a resistance differential when a keycap is pressed with sufficient force.

  • Patent number: 7568091
Abstract: A computer platform system control unit data programming control method and system is proposed, which is designed for use in conjunction with a computer platform, such as a network server, to provide the computer platform with a BMC (Baseboard Management Controller) data programming control function, and which is characterized by the utilization of the SMI (System Management Interrupt) of BIOS (Basic Input/Output System) for switching the BMC between normal mode and flash mode. This feature allows the proposed system, when implemented in a computer program, to be suited for use with different models of computer platforms having different hardware configurations and operating systems, which means that a single edition of the BMC data programming control program can be used on various different modes of computer platforms. This benefit allows the application to be more convenient and cost-effective to use than the prior art.

  • Publication number: 20080285461
Abstract: A method for remotely monitoring a system is provided. In the present invention, when a computer system receives a network packet sent by a remote device, it determines whether the network packet is a remote management control protocol (RMCP) packet. If the network packet is a RMCP packet, the data content of the RMCP packet is parsed and a corresponding monitoring operation is executed to obtain a monitoring result. Finally, the monitoring result is transmitted back to the remote device. Accordingly, the computer system can be remotely monitored through the network without using a Baseboard Management Controller (BMC), so that the hardware cost can be saved.

  • Patent number: 7447822
Abstract: A hot-plug control system and method is applied to a computer device, wherein the computer device is provided with a PCI-E (Peripheral Component Interconnect Express) bus, at least one PCI-E slot having a power switch and an indicator light, a power control unit and a driver. The hot-plug control system at least includes a signal control module for generating an interrupt signal; a detection module for detecting the status of the PCI-E slot and the power switch corresponding to the PCI-E slot in response to the interrupt signal; a control module for allowing power to be provided to the PCI-E slot and the indicator light corresponding to the PCI-E slot to be illuminated when the detection module detects that a new expansion card has been inserted in the PCI-E slot and the corresponding power switch has been actuated; and a drive module for loading the driver to drive the inserted expansion card.

  • Publication number: 20060228223
Abstract: A system and a method for control of fan rotational speed are applied in an electronic device with a fan for temperature adjustment. The electronic device at least records a first fan rotational speed of the fan when a temperature of the fan is higher than a predetermined temperature interval and a second fan rotational speed of the fan when the temperature of the fan is lower than the temperature interval. A fan rotational speed during operation of the fan is recorded. The electronic device detects a temperature of an exothermic object being adjusted by the fan, and outputs a temperature parameter. The electronic device determines whether the temperature parameter belongs to the temperature interval and accordingly adjusts the fan rotational speed of the fan. The system and method make change of the fan rotational speed less sensitive to oscillations in system temperature and prolong the lifetime of the fan.

  • Publication number: 20050275550
Abstract: A human-transporting vehicle has a chamber, a gas collector, a detection circuit and a determination circuit for improving driving safety. The gas collector collects a gas sampling and the determination circuit determines whether a concentration of a certain composition in the gas sampling exceeds a predetermined value. If the determination result is positive, the determination circuit disables the vehicle so that the vehicle cannot start. An audio device and a display are utilized for providing the driver with information to know whether it is safe to drive the vehicle.
