  • Publication number: 20070236927
Abstract: A plane light source apparatus mainly comprises at least one illumination element and a light guiding module. The light guiding module comprises a light guiding bar and a light guiding plate, in which the light guiding element is used for generating light beams. The light guiding bar includes at least one surface used for disposing the illumination element and a reflection surface used for receiving the light beams emitted from the illumination elements. The light guiding plate has a plurality of end surfaces, one of end surfaces is connected to the light guiding bar. A gap is used for guiding the line light source to be incident into an area of the light guiding plate far away from the light guiding bar and exists between the light guiding bar and the light guiding plate. Whereby, the whole uniformity of the backlight module is elevated.

  • Publication number: 20070145395
Abstract: A light emitting module including a light source set and a light guide member is provided. The light source set is suitable for providing a light and the light guide member is disposed above the light source set. The light guide member has a top surface, an opposite light incident surface, a first reflection surface, and an opposite light emergent surface connected between the top surface and the light incident surface. The top surface has a first concave surface serving a second reflection surface suitable for reflecting the light. Besides, a portion of the light reflected by the second reflection surface emerges from the light emergent surface through the reflection of the first reflection surface, and the other portion of the light directly emerges from the light emergent surface. Additionally, a surface light source device having the light emitting module is also provided.

  • Patent number: 7131764
Abstract: A backlight apparatus includes a guiding element and a light source disposed at one side of the guiding element. There is a plurality of reflective patterns at the bottom surface of the guiding element. Each reflective pattern is composed of at least one concavity and at least one convexity. The concavity is disposed at the rim around the convexity. As the light source emits light to the guiding element, the reflective area is increased by the concavity of the reflective pattern for increasing the reflecting effect and for distributing the brightness more uniformly, and thereby higher brightness and uniformity can be achieved.

  • Publication number: 20060226436
Abstract: A lens assembly for sideward light emission includes a lens and a lens cap. The lens has a cup portion, an open end portion, and first and second refracting portions. The cup portion surrounds a light source. The open end portion defines an opening. The first refracting portion interconnects the cup portion and the open end portion. The second refracting portion is disposed in the lens and is formed on the first refracting portion. The lens cap is mounted to the open end portion of the lens for covering the opening.

  • Publication number: 20060098434
Abstract: The present invention relates to a direct type backlight module providing a planar backlight source, wherein it adopts several light-emitting elements, and the light emitted from the light-emitting elements directly illuminates a diffuser, or is reflected by a reflector, and then the reflected light illuminates the diffuser. Via light-compensating elements installed between any two neighboring light-emitting elements, the present invention solves the brightness defects occurring in the portions between any two neighboring light-emitting elements and further increases the brightness and uniformity of a planar backlight source.

  • Publication number: 20050276914
Abstract: A method for manufacturing light guide plate mold cores to form a precise pattern on a light guide mold core to produce light guide plates for back light modules. The method includes forming a metal layer of a selected pattern by a micro lithography process that has varying heights, and plating a layer of non-electrolyzed nickel (nickel-phosphorus alloy) to form the surface of the light guide plate mold core. The mold core thus formed, has a smooth surface, a desired mold releasing property and is durable.

  • Patent number: 6447136
Abstract: In a backlight system of a liquid crystal display, a light guide plate includes a plurality of reflector units. The light guide plate is in wedge or flat shape, which has a front surface, a back surface, and four side surfaces. The plurality of reflector units are integrally formed with the back surface of the light guide plate, each of which is designed as an annular protrusion. Through one of the four side surfaces, a light beam irradiated by a lamp propagates into the light guide plate. Regardless of the propagating direction, part of the light beam is reflected by the reflector unit into two reflective light beams that are then refracted out of the front surface of the light guide plate. Therefore, the light guide plate according to the present invention achieves an excellent reflective efficiency.
