  • Patent number: 10886833
Abstract: A switch mode power supply controller includes a switch terminal adapted to be coupled to an inductor that drives a load, high- and low-side switches a pulse width modulation (PWM) circuit, and a current monitor circuit. The PWM circuit is coupled to a feedback terminal for receiving a feedback signal, and alternatively drives the high-side switch and the low-side switch with a duty cycle set using the feedback signal to regulate an output voltage to a desired level in a work mode, and keeps both the high-side switch and the low-side switch non-conductive in a non-work mode. The current monitor circuit provides a current monitor signal representative of a current driven from the inductor to the load, wherein the current monitor circuit forms the current monitor signal by measuring an inductor current during a work mode, and by emulating the inductor current during a non-work mode.

  • Publication number: 20200348444
Abstract: A method may include transforming optical responses for a fluid sample to a parameter space of a downhole tool. The optical responses are obtained using a first operational sensor and a second operational sensor of the downhole tool. Fluid models are applied in the parameter space of the downhole tool to the transformed optical responses to obtain density predictions of the fluid sample. The density predictions of the first operational sensor are matched to the density predictions of the second operational sensor based on optical parameters of the fluid models to obtain matched density predictions. A difference between the matched density predictions and measurements obtained from a densitometer is calculated, and a contamination index is estimated based on the difference.

  • Patent number: 10714028
Abstract: A display may have an array of pixels illuminated using a backlight unit. The backlight unit may include multiple strings of light-emitting diodes (LEDs) and a boost converter for providing an output voltage to the multiple LED strings. The boost converter may have a single-phase single-switch, single-phase multi-switch, and/or multi-phase multi-switch configuration, where the switches are turned off when the peak current is reached. When transitioning from a single phase to a dual phase operation, the second (slave) phase current may be slowly ramped up. When transition from the dual phase to the single phase operation, the output voltage may be elevated while slowing ramping down the slave phase current. The boost converter may include a current detection circuit for adjusting the peak current of each phase to balance the average current levels. The boost converter may also include an in-rush current controller configured to sense a short fault.

  • Patent number: 10618992
Abstract: Disclosed herein are hydrophobic vinylamine-containing polymers useful as papermaking performance additives for enhancing paper softness with little or no negative effect on paper dry strength properties. The hydrophobic vinylamine-containing polymers are produced by incorporating hydrophobic functional property into primary amine moiety of the vinylamine-containing polymers via reactions with reactive hydrophobes. The hydrophobically modified vinylamine-containing polymers can be further used as base polymers for polymerization with a vinyl monomer by free radical initiated polymerization. The compositions of those hydrophobic vinylamine-containing polymers have shown improved softness, reduced coefficient friction to paper products while maintained or improved dry strength properties of the paper products.

  • Publication number: 20180259668
Abstract: Near real-time methodologies for maximizing return-on-fracturing-investment for shale fracturing. An example system can calculate, based on sonic data and density data, mechanical properties and closure stress of a portion of shale rocks for fracture modeling. The system can generate one or more rock mechanical models based on the mechanical properties and closure stress of the portion of shale rocks, and perform one or more fracture modeling simulations based on one or more treatment parameter values. Based on the one or more fracture modeling simulations, the system can generate a neural network model which predicts a fracture productivity indicator of an effective propped area (EPA) and/or an effective propped length (EPL), and calculate a return-on-fracturing-investment (ROFI) based on the EPA or EPL predicted by the neural network model.
