  • Patent number: 8059699
Abstract: Disclosed is a low power consumption GNSS receiver by adaptively adjusting clock frequency. A correlator performs correlations to signals received from the channels with a correlator clock frequency. A DSP controls the correlator clock frequency according to a correlator load to performing correlations. The DSP calculates and adjusts code phases and Doppler frequencies for the signals in turn with a DSP clock frequency. The DSP controls the DSP clock frequency according to an accumulated throughput of calculation and adjustment or a predetermined threshold number of channels. The DSP controls the RF power according to the correlator load. A microprocessor processes a measurement result of the calculation and the adjustment for obtaining position information with a microprocessor clock frequency. The microprocessor controls the microprocessor clock frequency according to an accumulated progress of processing the measurement result. Accordingly, reducing power consumption for the GNSS receiver can be realized.

  • Patent number: 7080296
Abstract: A method comprises utilizing an optical disk drive to manage defects on an optical disk. When a targeted block is defective, the method writes all data in an original packet to an alternative packet without temporarily storing the data in a memory of the optical disk drive, thereby saving memory resources.

  • Patent number: 7073091
Abstract: This invention is for updating a straight mapping flag in an optical recording medium having defect table blocks (DTBs) in a detect table (DT). When data that should be recorded in a predetermined block in one data area is later recorded in a replacement block in one spare area because the predetermined block is defective, record associated information in a entry in one DTB, and the entry is marked as recorded and sequentially arranged. Determine an examining sequence of the DTBs with a predetermined block-sequence determination procedure and perform a predetermined block-examining procedure to the DTBs one by one with the determined examining sequence. Examine whether the DTB comprises any recorded entries. Examine the recorded entries with a predetermined entry-examining procedure, to acquire the associated information of the defective blocks in recorded entries and update the corresponding straight mapping flag to be non-straight mapping based on the acquired associated information.

  • Patent number: 7050369
Abstract: A method for managing data on an optical discincludes two different memory areas allocated in the memory of an optical disc drive, one is used to temporarily store an original defect table from the optical disc, the other is used to temporarily store new used-entries established during a data write-in. All newly established used-entries are sorted and stored in the same memory area but remain separate from the used-entries in the original defect table in the other memory area. Only when the optical disc drive stops accessing data, all used-entries in the two memory areas are combined and sorted, which results in an updated defect table written back onto the optical disc.

  • Patent number: 7051232
Abstract: A method for accessing data on an optical disk by a drive. The optical disk includes spare packets and data blocks. Each data block is for recording data written to the optical disk, and each spare packet has spare blocks for replacing defect blocks to record data. The drive has a memory allocated with buffers, and each buffer is for recording data of a spare packet. When writing data of a first buffer to a packet of the optical disk, if a plurality of first spare blocks are found defective, then searching a second spare packet which has spare blocks for replacing the first blocks. If the second spare packet is not read in a buffer, reading the second spare packet into a releasable buffer. After copying data written to the first spare blocks from the first buffer to the second buffer, making the first buffer releasable.
