  • Patent number: 9813876
Abstract: Location information (e.g., GPS information) pertaining to the location of a device may be integrated into a distributed antenna system (DAS) to enhance location based services. This may be accomplished via a system that filters and combines GPS information with DAS information. Utilization of the enhanced location based services system may enhance accuracy performance of indoor location services and improve round-trip time (RTT) location responses associated with network assisted GPS (e.g., A-GPS) location requests for services from indoor calls.

  • Patent number: 9713020
Abstract: Characterization and enhancement of a mobile local scattering environment. The system includes a channel component and a link control component, wherein the channel component facilitates communication of a ping signal, which is used to estimate the delay spread characteristics and/or angle of arrival in order to characterize the mobile local scattering environment. This information is sent to the link control component, which enhances radio link performance based on the received information. The system can be used to assist in E-911 location applications, such as determining the location of an indoor user.

  • Patent number: 9699230
Abstract: A method includes determining, at a server associated with a wireless communications network, a first set of multimedia content items to be transmitted via a multimedia broadcast multicast services (MBMS) broadcast transmission to multiple devices. The first set of multimedia content items may be determined based on a data traffic profile of the wireless communication network. The server may select a particular node of the wireless communications network to transmit the first set of multimedia content items via the MBMS broadcast transmission. The method also includes determining a second set of multimedia content items to be transmitted from the selected node to a particular device via a unicast transmission. The second set of multimedia content items may be determined based on a content request profile associated with the particular device.

  • Publication number: 20170118782
Abstract: Methods are apparatus are disclosed to improve a network connection of a cellular-enabled device via a connected vehicle. An example method disclosed herein include receiving an indication that a first cellular-enabled device is within range of a cellular-enabled vehicle to which the first cellular-enabled device has a connection relationship. When a first signal strength between the cellular-enabled vehicle and a cellular network is greater than a second signal strength between the first cellular-enabled device and the cellular network, the cellular-enabled vehicle is instructed to establish a first connection between the cellular-enabled vehicle and the cellular network using a first subscriber identifier stored in the first cellular-enabled device.
