Patent number: 7409124Abstract: A fiber waveguide optical subassembly uses the multi-mode fiber to increase the alignment tolerance between the active optical element and the waveguide. The filter is thinner to lower the dispersion due to the optical coupling gap. The subassembly further combines the optical bench to achieve passive positioning. Therefore it reduces the cost and enhances the transmission rate.Type: GrantFiled: April 14, 2005Date of Patent: August 5, 2008Assignee: Industrial Technology Research InstituteInventors: Ming-Lang Tsai, Ming Jie Chou, Bor-Chen Tsai, Zong-Yuan Wu, Chih-Hsiang Ko, Chin-Sheng Chang, Yii-Tay Chiou, Chun-Hsun Chu, Jung-Tai Chen

Publication number: 20070133928Abstract: A canted-fiber duplex optical subassembly is disclosed herein. The optical subassembly transmits and receives optical signals by way of a single optical fiber, which has a canted surface on one end. A light source sends transmission optical signals, which are refracted through the canted surface and then enter the optical fiber. Reception optical signals in the optical fiber are reflected by the canted surface and are then received by an optical detector.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 13, 2006Publication date: June 14, 2007Applicant: Industrial Technology Research InstituteInventors: Chih-Hsiang Ko, Ming-Lang Tsai, Hui-Chuan Lu, Jin-Sheng Chang

Patent number: 7006293Abstract: A solution for fabricating a light diffusing sheet-like device capable of emitting light with superior brightness, that is a high brightness diffuser. The high brightness diffuser mainly includes at least two light diffusing pieces with ridge-shape structure arranged thereon, which can be either convex or concave. The convex ridge-shape structure having a plurality of large convex ridges and a plurality of small convex ridges, which are associated with a ridgeline existing in between two adjacent ridges where the large ridge and small are interlace-arranged, and the ridges along with the associated ridgelines can be longitudinally extended to the same direction. The concave ridge-shape structure is constituted the same way as the convex ridge-shape structure is, but having concave ridges. The high brightness diffuser is fabricated by stacking up the two light diffusing pieces and enabling an included angle to be formed between the two ridge-extending directions of the two light diffusing pieces.Type: GrantFiled: March 31, 2004Date of Patent: February 28, 2006Assignee: Industrial Technology Research InstituteInventors: Hui-Lung Kuo, Chun-Hsiang Wen, Ming-Lang Tsai, Yaw-Ting Wu, Yu-Hsun Wu, Chih-Kung Lee

Patent number: 6927911Abstract: The light-guide module for emitting particular polarized light beams includes a splitter for separating non-polarized light beams, a transformer for converting polarization of light beams, and a non-polarized light source. The non-polarized light source emits light beams. Particular polarized light beams pass the splitter and other light beams are reflected by the splitter. Polarizations of reflected light beams and of light beams emitted by the non-polarized light source are converted by the transformer so as to separate the light beams later. Thus the light-guide module for emitting particular polarized light beams loses relatively little light energy.Type: GrantFiled: June 9, 2003Date of Patent: August 9, 2005Assignee: Industrial Technology Research Institute/Material ResearchInventors: Ming-Lang Tsai, Chun-Hsiang Wen, Hui-Lung Kuo, Kuo-Tung Huang, Yaw-Ting Wu, Ying-Chiang Hu, Chih-Kng Lee, Liang-Bin Yu, Ping-Chen Chen, An-Shun Liu
