  • Patent number: 6319017
Abstract: An electrical card connector (1) in accordance with the present invention comprises an insulative housing (10), a plurality of terminals (20) received in the insulative housing, a shield (30) covering the insulative housing, a metal ear (40) connecting with the shield and an ejector 50 fixed on both sides of the shield. The metal ear assembled to the housing comprises a body (41), an engaging section (44) and a buckle section (42) extending respectively from the two sides of the body. The engaging section is adapted to soldering onto the printed circuit board (PCB) (6) and then ground the interferential signals on the metal ear onto the PCB. While the buckle section is locking on the top face (10a) of the housing so that the metal ear can be assembled to the housing firmly when the electrical card connector subjects to the external force in the opposite direction of the PCB vertically upwards.

  • Patent number: 6287129
Abstract: A card connector assembly 1 for connecting a card to a mother board 7 comprises a card connector 2, a spacer 3 defining a plurality of through holes 33 and a daughter board 4 defining a plurality of conductive holes 43. A plurality of terminals 23 received in a plurality of passageways defined in the card connector 2 are inserted into the conductive holes 43 of the daughter card 4 via the through holes 33 of the spacer 3. The spacer 3 forms a pair of hooks 30 to latch with a pair of protrusions 210 of the card connector 2 and a pair of studs 34 to mate with a pair of recesses 44 of the daughter board 4. The spacer 3 further forms two downwardly extending legs 35 which fit into two cutouts 55 in two corners of a socket connector 5 mounted on a mother board 6 when the daughter board 4 is inserted into the socket connector 5.

  • Patent number: 6231381
Abstract: An insulative housing of a PCMCIA card connector includes a header defining a plurality of passageways therein. The passageways are exposed to a rear face of the header for allowing contact elements to be inserted therein from the rear face. The header has a top face forming a post and an opposite bottom face defining a corresponding bore. The post pivotally supports a rocking arm of a card ejection mechanism for releasing a PCMCIA card from the connector. A number of insulative housings may be vertically stacked and precisely positioned with respect to each other by inserting the post of a lower housing into the bore of an upper housing thereby aligning the passageways of the housings. Contact elements fixed to a carrier strip and equally spaced therealong are simultaneously inserted into the passageways of the housings thereby enhancing the efficiency of assembling the PCMCIA card connectors.

  • Patent number: 6159027
Abstract: A card connector comprises a U-shaped insulative housing including an elongate base and a pair of arms, a number of contacts received in the housing and an elongate modular card ejection device. The modular card ejection device comprises a main body and an engaging portion having a T-shaped cross section provided on a side of the main body. Each arm forms a receiving space having a T-shaped cross section in a side face thereof. The receiving space further defines a recess in a middle position thereof. The engaging portion forms an elongate projection outwardly extending from an end thereof. The engaging portion engages with the receiving space and the projection is received in the recess thereby retaining the modular card ejection device on one arm of the housing.

  • Patent number: 6062878
Abstract: An IC card connector includes an insulative housing and two arrays of terminals retained therein. The housing has a mating face and an opposite mounting face. A space is defined adjacent to the mating face for receiving an IC card therein. An elongate spacer extends from the mounting face and defines a number of notches having different predetermined depths. Each terminal forms a mating portion and an opposite mounting portion. The mating portion extends beyond the mating face and into the space for engaging an IC card. The mounting portion forms a solder end which is secured in the notch and soldered to a circuit board using surface mount technology. All the terminals in one array are dimensioned the same. When the mounting portions of the terminals are secured in the notches, the mating portions therefore extend different predetermined lengths beyond the mating face.
