  • Patent number: 9427794
Abstract: An apparatus for forming an article by forging. The apparatus has at least one die having a die cavity to receive material, said material being at least partially molten, and at least one punch to slidably engage the die cavity and to exert a forming pressure on material disposed in the cavity. There is also at least one pin for forming an article feature. The pin is to slidably engage the die and to contact the material, the pin being further to recede upon exertion of the forming pressure and to exert a feature forming pressure when receded and thereby form the article having the article feature when the material solidifies under the forming pressure.

  • Publication number: 20100137810
Abstract: A safety guard (10) for a needle has a slider (22) for slideably encasing the needle; a moveably traveler (34) that slides over and with the slider and is in sliding engagement with and within a housing (14). A resilient member (80) within the housing biases the slider distally to cover the needle. Radial recesses (26a, 26b) on the outer surface of the slider are engaged by cantilevered snaps (38) at the distal end of the traveller. Once the snaps are engaged they are prevented from moving proximally with respect to the slider, but can move distally from one set of recesses (26a) to another (26b).

  • Patent number: 7111487
Abstract: A curvature forming device has an upper member and a lower member. A clamping member is mounted on a spring within a recess in the upper member. An elongate deforming member is fixedly mounted in the same recess. The deforming member protrudes out of the recess more at one end than at the other. The upper member is pressed down against a flat anvil or die of a lower member, with a metal strip between them. The clamping member clamps the strip, whilst the deforming member deforms a small length of it. The upper member is raised and the strip moved forward a little bit. The upper member is then brought down again to clamp and deform the adjacent small length. Each deformed portion is generally fan shaped. These build up to produce a curve in the strip.
