Abstract: A method and circuit for LCD panel flicker reduction. The invention relates to an adjustment circuit to reduce an LCD panel flicker, wherein the LCD panel has a plurality of scan lines and a plurality of data lines. In one embodiment, the adjustment circuit includes a variable resistor, and a plurality of impedance adjustment devices, each with impedance and having a control terminal to be coupled with a DC voltage source through the variable resistor, a power terminal to be coupled with a common voltage source, and a scan line terminal to be coupled with a scan line, wherein the impedance of each of the impedance adjustment devices can be varied when the resistance of the variable resistor is varied. Each of the impedance adjustment devices in one embodiment has a transistor. The impedance of each of the impedance adjustment devices is much higher than the impedance of the corresponding scan line to allow the LCD to be operated at higher frequencies.

Abstract: A TFT-LCD having a first glass substrate provided for fabricating transistors, a second glass substrate provided for fabricating a color filter, and a liquid crystal layer interposed between the second and first glass substrates. The TFT-LCD comprises the following components. A color filter is formed beneath the second glass substrate which has plural color filter elements and a first black matrix, wherein each grid pattern of the first black matrix is disposed to surround a color filter element. And the color filter element formed beneath the second glass substrate extends outward to surfaces of the first black matrix. A common electrode is formed beneath the color filter, wherein a part of the common electrode, the pixel units, and the first black matrix are overlapped to have a downward protruding structure. A second black matrix is formed on the first glass substrate, wherein each grid pattern of the second black matrix is disposed under inner edges of the each grid pattern of the first black matrix.

  • Patent number: 6495440
Abstract: The present invention provides a method to prevent an ITO from opening. A dummy material layer with tapered edges is formed on a substrate. A first insulating layer is formed on the dummy material layer. Then a metal layer is formed on the first insulating layer, wherein one edge of the metal layer corresponds to any part of one of the tapered edges of the dummy material layer and the other tapered edge is situated away from the metal layer. After a second insulating layer is formed on the metal layer, an ITO layer is formed thereon without opening.

  • Patent number: 6492700
Abstract: A method of manufacturing a thin film transistor liquid crystal display device. The method includes the steps of providing a first substrate and a second substrate, the first substrate positioned facing the second substrate; forming a black matrix layer on the first substrate, the black matrix layer including an opening exposing the first substrate; forming a coating layer on the black matrix layer and the opening; forming a light shielding layer on the second substrate facing the opening, the area of the light shielding layer being larger than the area of the opening; forming a insulator layer on the light shielding layer and the second substrate; and forming a sealant layer between the coating layer and the insulator layer. The method of the present invention increases the adhesive strength between the black matrix and the substrate.

  • Patent number: 6376288
Abstract: A method of forming a TFT structure is performed on a glass substrate. A first metal layer deposited on the glass substrate is patterned with a first mask to form a gate line and a gate electrode. Next, a gate insulating layer, a first semiconductor layer and an etch-stop layer are successively formed, and backside exposure patterns the etch-stop layer. Thus, the remaining part of the etch-stop layer is disposed over the gate electrode and the gate line. Next, a second semiconductor layer and a second metal layer are successively formed, and then the second metal layer is patterned with a second mask to form a data line perpendicular to the gate line. Thereafter, the second semiconductor layer and the first semiconductor layer not covered by the second metal layer are removed.

  • Publication number: 20010046002
Abstract: In a novel dot inversion mode liquid crystal display, the period of time required to write a pixel electrode is shortened. The liquid crystal display consists of a plurality of pixel cells arranged in a form of matrix. Each of the pixel cells comprises: a pixel electrode for controlling the motion of liquid crystal molecules, a pre-writing transistor, activated by a first scan line, for in advance writing the data signal on a first data line into the pixel electrode, and a main transistor, activated by a second scan line, for writing the data signal in a second data line into the pixel electrode. According to the present invention, the pixel electrode in the liquid crystal display undergoes two separate operations of writing potential voltages with the same polarity per frame of time. Therefore, it is easy to completely write the data signal into the pixel electrode, even when the liquid crystal display becomes higher in the scanning frequency or larger in the resolution degree of the panel.
