Patent number: 6509404Abstract: An ionomeric particulate composition made by suspension polymerization is provided. The composition comprises at least one vinyl monomer; an acid monomer; a metal oxide; at least two surfactants, one of which is a monomer surfactant; and polyacrylamide. The particulates' size can be controlled by use of the polyacrylainide and various surfactants, and not through the conventional means of homogenization. Particle size in the range of less than 10 micrometers can be made. The ionomeric particulate is made in the absence of a chain transfer agent and thus can have high molecular weight.Type: GrantFiled: November 17, 1999Date of Patent: January 21, 2003Assignee: 3M Innovative Properties Co.Inventors: Chung I. Patent number: 6503578Abstract: Zincselenide (ZnSe) thin films were grown on quartz glass and GaAs(100) substrates by continuous wave (CW) CO2 laser with ion beam assisted deposition. The ZnSe thin films are applied for multilayer anti-reflection coatings and blue light emitting devices. There are advantages to this technique over the Ion-Beam coating, MBE, MOCVD and PLD methods for fabricating layered semiconductors. It is cheaper and safer than Ion-Beam coating, MBE, MOCVD and others. It is cheaper and safer to heat the target locally by using a continuous wave laser so that contaminations and heat radiation are reduced. It is also cheaper and safer to avoid the splash of PLD.Type: GrantFiled: May 5, 2000Date of Patent: January 7, 2003Assignee: National Science CouncilInventors: Pey-Shiun Yeh, Jyh-Shin Chen, Cheng-Chung Jaing, Hsiang-Ming Tseng, Long-Sheng Liao, Ming-Chih Lee

Publication number: 20020175605Abstract: A track device comprises a first track and a second track slidably received in the first track. An engaging member is mounted to an end of the first rack and includes at least one positioning block. The second track further includes two hooks for engaging with two ends of a pressing member mounted to the second track. The pressing member includes a protruded portion that can be pressed. The pressing member further includes at least one notch defined by two parallel walls. When the second track is pulled outward along a longitudinal direction, the notch is engaged with the positioning block of the engaging member of the first track, thereby providing a better positioning effect. When the protruded portion of the pressing member is pressed, the notch is disengaged from the positioning block, thereby allowing disengagement or engagement of the second track from or into the first track.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 24, 2001Publication date: November 28, 2002Applicant: King Slide Works Co., Ltd.Inventors: Ken-Ching Chen, I-Ming Tseng, Shu-Juan Lin, Chun-Chiang Wang

Patent number: 6450600Abstract: A retaining structure. The retaining structure includes a retaining member on a first track and a pressing block on a second track slidably received in the first track. The retaining member has two resilient legs and the pressing block has two protrusions. When the second track is mounted in the first track and pulled outward to a predetermined position, the legs of the retaining member press against inner sides of the protrusions of the pressing block to prevent inadvertent inward movement of the second track in the first track. When the second track in the predetermined position is pushed inwards by an appropriate force, the protrusions of the pressing block press to deform the legs of the retaining member to allow the protrusions of the pressing block to move across the retaining member, thus allowing inward movement of the second track in the first track.Type: GrantFiled: August 3, 2001Date of Patent: September 17, 2002Assignee: King Slide Works Co., Ltd.Inventors: Ken-Ching Chen, I-Ming Tseng, Shu-Jiuan Lin

Publication number: 20020129015Abstract: A relevancy ranking and clustering method and system that determines the relevance of a document relative to a user's query using a similarity comparison process. Input queries are parsed into one or more query predicate structures using an ontological parser. The ontological parser parses a set of known documents to generate one or more document predicate structures. A comparison of each query predicate structure with each document predicate structure is performed to determine a matching degree, represented by a real number. A multilevel modifier strategy is implemented to assign different relevance values to the different parts of each predicate structure match to calculate the predicate structure's matching degree. The relevance of a document to a user's query is determined by calculating a similarity coefficient, based on the structures of each pair of query predicates and document predicates.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 18, 2001Publication date: September 12, 2002Inventors: Maureen Caudill, Jason Chun-Ming Tseng, Lei Wang
