  • Patent number: 6750170
Abstract: Single site catalysts which contain a transition metal, a cyclopentadienyl may be activated with alumoxanes in the gas, solution or group-containing ligand, and a phosphinimine ligand slurry phase polymerization of olefin. Alumoxanes contain residual aluminum alkyls which may poison the catalysts. The residual aluminum alkyls may be bound and/or removed from the alumoxanes by treatment with carbohydrates such as cellulose, starch or sugar.

  • Publication number: 20030225949
Abstract: A DMA controller has both a receiving portion and a sending portion and may be used in a modem or other data transmission context. The DMA controller is intended to provide to or receive from data samples on a bus that may or not be available. For the case when the bus is available, samples of data are either sent to or received from proper memory locations. When the bus is not available, the number of the samples that are missed due to the bus not being available is stored. This count is then used to ensure that the samples that are provided or received when the bus becomes available are stored in or read from the proper location to provide the samples at the proper time. The locations in which the samples were lost are provided with predetermined values.

  • Patent number: 6404807
Abstract: A method and apparatus for achieving the fastest possible data transmission rate, symmetric, near symmetric, or a specific data transmission rate between multiple analog modems. The invention comprises a multimedia unit comprising of two (or more) digital modems and a controller section. The controller provides the interface between the two (or more) digital modems. When a user attempts to send data from a first analog modem to a second analog modem, the user calls the first digital modem in the network. Next, the first digital modem establishes a connection with the second digital modem through the controller section which is partitioned in two segments. Controller segments may be co-located or located in different locations and connected through either Internet or PSTN. Then, the second digital modem dials up the second analog modem under direction of the controller.

  • Patent number: 6181641
Abstract: A memory device includes a plurality of memory cells arranged in rows and columns. The memory cells are divided into a plurality of sub-arrays. The memory cell further includes a plurality of word lines connecting rows of the memory cells, and a plurality of bit line pairs connecting columns of the memory cells. An address transition detect (ATD) circuit detects an address transition for a selected memory cell and generates an ATD pulse in response thereto. A respective bit line precharge circuit is associated with each of the plurality of sub-arrays. An ATD pulse distribution circuit distributes the ATD pulse to only a selected sub-array containing the selected memory cell to activate only the bit line precharge circuit of the selected sub-array and not activate precharge circuits of other non-selected sub-arrays.

  • Patent number: 6169702
Abstract: A memory device includes a plurality of address on-chip receivers (OCRs), an address decoder coupled to the address OCRs, a plurality of first delay circuits coupled between the address OCRs and the address decoder, and a plurality of chip select bypass circuits. Each chip select bypass circuit is respectively coupled to one of the plurality of first delay circuits for initially reducing a delay therein responsive to a control signal. The chip select bypass circuit includes a second delay circuit having a delay less than the first delay circuit, and a disable circuit. The disable circuit disables the first delay circuit and selectively couples the second delay circuit in place of the first delay circuit responsive to the control signal.

  • Patent number: 6072803
Abstract: A communication protocol detection system for enabling a network system to detect and interface one or more network devices each operating according to at least one of a plurality of different communication protocols. In one embodiment, a network interface card (NIC) is capable of operating according to one of two different communication protocols, such as the 10Base-T and 100Base-TX Ethernet Standards. The NIC includes two corresponding transceivers, where the transceivers are interfaced to a network connector for interfacing an external network device. Control logic initially enables the 10Base-T transceiver to determine if link pulses are detected. If link pulses are detected, the 100Base-T transceiver is enabled to determine if it detects the link pulses. If so, the 100Base-T transceiver is used to establish communications, and if not, the 10Base-T transceiver is used.

  • Patent number: 5925114
Abstract: A software implementation of a modem, particularly designed to execute on a general purpose host processor, controlled by a non-real-time, multi-tasking operating system (OS), such as the Windows 95 OS. The software modem is scaleable and portable. In this fashion, communication protocols (particularly datapumps) may be easily added to, or removed from, the system, and the modem may be easily adapted for use on other types of processors and operating systems. The controller and datapump portions execute as a plurality of interacting subsystems, each of which can execute at at least one of several priority levels. A HRT level routine is responsible for handling an ASIC that buffers transmit and receive samples destined to and received from the phone lines. A SRT level task includes logic that needs time functionality, but which is not time-critical like the HRT logic. BRT routines execute in an event-driven basis and are used for many controller functions.

  • Patent number: 5802153
Abstract: An apparatus (101) and method for interfacing between a processor (103) and a communications channel (105), the processor operable in data terminal equipment (102) such as a computer having a communications application program, to provide for data transmission and reception over a communications channel (105), utilizing the computer processor without additional or redundant microprocessor or digital signal processor components. The apparatus and method provide for data transfer between the interface apparatus (101 ) and the communications channel (105) at a first, determinate frequency corresponding to a specific data transmission rate. The apparatus and method provide for data transfer between the interface apparatus (101) and the processor (103) at a second, indeterminate frequency, and provides for interim data storage in memory (115) between data transmission (or data reception) and data processing, such as modulation and demodulation, by the computer processor (103).

  • Patent number: 5168518
Abstract: A coin tone validator (CTV) is located in a local central office and is connected between a pay telephone and a switching system. The CTV monitors DC loop current changes using opto-couplers inserted into a local loop in addition to measuring standard 1700 Hz and 2200 Hz tone frequencies generated when a coin is inserted into the paystation. A comparison of the two components, the current changes and the frequencies, is performed to determine a timing and magnitude relationship. If the frequency component is misaligned within a specified time frame or the magnitude is not sufficient, then the tones received or the current change sensed are dismissed as interference. The CTV prevents users of pay telephones from fraudulently generating coin tones that are acoustically coupled into the handset of a paystation from a calling station at any time during a call.
