  • Patent number: 9737993
Abstract: A tape library apparatus includes a tape drive, a robot unit, and a second processor. The tape drive includes a first access mechanism and a first processor. The first access mechanism is configured to read position information from a non-contact type memory within a tape cartridge. The position information indicates a position of data recorded in a magnetic tape within the tape cartridge. The first processor is configured to perform positioning for the data. The robot unit includes a robot arm and a second access mechanism configured to access the non-contact type memory. The robot arm is configured to store the tape cartridge in the robot unit, and move the tape cartridge to the tape drive. The second processor is configured to control the second access mechanism to read the position information from the non-contact type memory, and store the position information in a non-volatile memory.

  • Patent number: 9153279
Abstract: A magnetic tape control apparatus includes a control device that executes a process including: detecting an occurrence of speed fluctuations of a running magnetic tape for each recorded area from which a synchronization error is detected, when the synchronization error of a bit signal of a track is detected with a time lag between any of tracks of the running magnetic tape partitioned in units of recording areas; and setting the recording area as an unavailable area in accordance with a state where the speed fluctuations in the recording area occur.

  • Patent number: 7278605
Abstract: A roller body receives a tape at a cylindrical surface. First and second flange members are located adjacent one and the other ends of the roller body for movement in the axial direction of the roller body, respectively. If one edge of the tape creases, the movement of the first flange member is restrained, so that a reference position can be set for the other edge of the tape in the first flange member. If the other edge of the tape creases, the movement of the second flange member is restrained, so that a reference position can be set for the one edge of the tape in the second flange member. In either case, the centerline can be prevented from shifting. Employment of the guide roller of this type in a tape drive allows a head to reliably follow a servo track on the tape.

  • Patent number: 6516762
Abstract: A seal member of a seal unit of a valve timing adjusting device has foot portions and protrusive guides protruding from a seal reverse plane along internal surfaces of the foot portions. A plate spring of the seal unit has foot portions and fork portions arranged on top ends of the foot portions. A slit is formed in each fork portion to allow the insertion of the protrusive guide when the plate spring is fitted to the seal member. The positional relationship between the slit and the protrusive guide is determined on condition that the plate spring fitted to the seal member does not detach from the seal member and the plate spring does not collide with the protrusive guide when the plate spring is bent to arrange the seal unit in the valve timing adjusting device. When the plate spring is fitted to the seal member, the slits of the fork portions are positioned just above the protrusive guides, and the plate spring is dropped according to the gravitational force.
