    Abstract: A culture device is provided with a culture tank having sidewalls that are formed from a translucent material, and cultures fine algae in a culture liquid that is accommodated in the culture tank and through which light is emitted via the sidewalls. The culture device is provided with a translucent insulating part that covers the sidewalls. The insulating part forms an air layer that insulates the inside of the culture tank.     Abstract: A frost deposition detector for an air cooler disposed in a refrigerating chamber. A first signal is generated when the electric current flowing through the motor of the air blower for the air cooler, the value of which is adjusted with respect to the voltage variation across the motor and the air temperature change in the refrigerating chamber, reaches a threshold value which is proportional to the initial current value corresponding to the state of no frost deposition. A second signal is generated when the difference between the air temperature in the chamber and the air cooler temperature reaches a threshold difference, which can be set at a desired level. The detector generates a defrostor activation signal when and only when both first and second command signals are generated.

    Abstract: A photographic film blackened area measuring device, having two rod shaped light conducting members, each of which is formed as an elongated piece of transparent material with part of its surface, parallel to its axis, being roughened so as to diffuse light, while light is totally internally reflected along the length of the rod shaped member from the remainder of its smooth surface. These rod shaped light conducting members are arranged one on each side of a piece of developed photographic film in a automatic film developing machine, and the film passes between them. A light emitting device is provided at one end of one of the rod shaped light conducting members, and a photo sensitive device is provided at the end of the other rod shaped light conducting member which is remote from the light emitting device.
