Abstract: A bearing seal device for a bearing having inner and outer rings, the inner ring including an outer surface, and rolling elements disposed between the rings, comprises annular seal having an outer periphery fixed at the outer end of the outer ring, and an inner periphery extending towards the inner ring and including a bifurcated lip; and a groove in the outer surface of the inner ring for receiving the bifurcated lip, the groove including a bottom side wall, and inner and outer side walls of substantially the same height for reducing grease leakage from the bearing and reducing resistance of the seal.

Abstract: An apparatus for controlling valve timing in an internal combustion engine. The apparatus includes a pair of sleeves inserted into each other. One of the sleeves is connected to a camshaft of the engine. The other sleeve is connected to a timing pulley which is connected to the crankshaft of the engine. One of the sleeves has diametrically opposite slits while the other sleeve has diametrically opposite slits located adjacent to the respective slits in the one sleeve. The adjacent slits have central lines which are skewed with respect to each other. Roller-bearing units are arranged in the slits and are mounted on an axially slidable slider. Movement of the slider causes the generation of angular displacement between the sleeves so as to obtain a variable valve timing.
