  • Patent number: 4839257
Abstract: A color diffusion transfer photographic film unit and a method for forming image therewith which comprises a photosensitive sheet comprising a light-reflective support having disposed thereon in order outwardly from the support (a) a layer having neutralizing function, (b) a dye image-receiving layer, (c) a separating layer and (d) at least one light-sensitive emulsion layer comprising a light-sensitive silver halide, the light-sensitive emulsion layer being associated with at least one dye image-forming material; a transparent cover sheet superposed on the outermost layer of the photosensitive sheet; and rupturable storage means for providing a developing solution substantially opaque to light between the light-sensitive emulsion layer and the transparent cover sheet; provided that at least one of the light-reflective support and layer thereon disposed on the side of the light-sensitive emulsion layer opposite the transparent cover sheet is substantially opaque to light.

  • Patent number: 4469782
Abstract: In a film unit for photography of the diffusive transfer process type including a photosensitive sheet, a mask defining an image border definition with an aperture provided therein, a pod for a processing liquid etc., bordering portions of the photosensitive sheet underlying around the image border definition are applied by dummy liquid layers in place of the layers constituting the photosensitive sheet.

  • Patent number: 4358523
Abstract: In a film unit for photography of the diffusive transfer process type including a photosensitive sheet, a mask defining an image border definition with an aperture provided therein, a pod for a processing liquid, etc., bordering portions of the photosensitive sheet underlying the image border definition are formed of dried dummy liquid layers in place of the normal layers constituting the photosensitive sheet.

  • Patent number: 4340621
Abstract: A method for coating a web with a coating liquid wherein heavy coating of the web at the coating start position with the coating liquid is prevented. While a thin layer of pretreatment liquid having a low viscosity and consisting of water and/or organic solvent is applied at the coating start position and the region around the coating start position on the web, the web is fed into a coating section where the web is coated with the coating liquid with the coating liquid applied over the thin layer of pretreatment liquid on the web. With the coating operation carried out with a hopper-type coating device, a method is preferably employed in which the amount of pressure reduction of a bead stabilizing suction chamber is set at value higher than that used for steady-state operation.

  • Patent number: 4263870
Abstract: A bar coating process for coating a coating liquid on a continuously travelling web which comprises the steps of supplying a coating liquid so as to form a liquid reservoir immediately before a position of contact between a bar and the web, and coating the coating liquids on the web using the bar, wherein the bar is axially positioned perpendicularly to the travelling direction of the web, is supported on a supporting member and is rotated in the same direction as that of the web while coming into contact with the web. The diameter of the bar being 6 to 25 mm.

  • Patent number: 4154612
Abstract: In making silver halide photographic light-sensitive materials, a method of drying a layer of silver halide emulsion coated on a support is disclosed. The coated film is cooled and set, and thereafter a normal portion of the coated film is dried and undried thickly coated portions of the coated film are then dried by use of microwaves.

  • Patent number: 4149322
Abstract: A photographic emulsion coating on a travelling web 1 is irradiated by microwave energy propogated through a slotted, undulating waveguide 5 to condense or concentrate the coating by evaporating a significant percentage of its water content, thereby shortening the overall drying time for a given coating rate. A forced flow of air and/or other gases is established through apertures 9 in the waveguide under controlled temperature and humidity conditions, and the internal heating effected by the microwaves prevents the formation of a surface film which might impede subsequent drying.

  • Patent number: 3936306
Abstract: In a process for producing a gelatino silver halide light-sensitive material containing a high silver halide content comprising applying a gelatino silver halide emulsion layer having a silver halide to gelatin weight ratio of at least 0.8 and a gelatin-containing protective layer to a non-hygroscopic film support having good dimensional stability and then drying the layers, the improvement which comprises drying the layers on the support when the water content becomes less than 300% based on the mean drying amount defined as: ##EQU1## BY CONTACTING SAID MATERIAL WITH AIR HAVING A RELATIVE HUMIDITY OF FROM 50 TO 75%.
