Abstract: A liquid crystal-aligning film affording a high pretilt angle and capable of realizing a liquid crystal display for STN mode having a superior display quality and a liquid crystal display element including such film are provided,which film comprises as its main component, a polyimide having a structural unit expressed by the formula ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 to R.sub.6 each are H or 1-22C alkyl and may be the same as or different from one another,Y is ##STR2## R.sub.7 to R.sub.14 ; each are H or 1-3C alkyl and may be the same as or different from one another and Ar is a tetravalent aromatic group.

Abstract: A novel diamino compound and a dinitro compound and a diol compound as its derivatives are provided,which diamino compound is useful as a raw material for polyimide compounds for an aligning film in a liquid crystal display element exhibiting a high pretilt angle, and expressed by the formula ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 to R.sub.6 each are H or 1-22C alkyl and may be the same as or different from one another, and R.sub.7 to R.sub.14 each are H or 1-3C alkyl and may be the same as or different from one another.

Abstract: Diamino compounds, dinitro compounds, diol compounds and a process for preparing the diamino compounds which are useful as materials of poly-imide compounds for obtaining aligning films having high pretilt angles in liquid crystal display elements are provided.The diamino compounds are represented by the general formula: ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 -R.sub.6 are a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group having 1 to 22 carbon atoms, respectively, and R.sub.7 -R.sub.12 are a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group having 1 to 3 carbon atoms, F or Cl respectively.

Abstract: A method of disposing of solid or paste-like paint waste in which the paint waste is firmly comminuted and mixed with waste oil and water, preferably with detergent present, to form a low-sedimentation rate slurry, and the slurry then incinerated to provide substantially complete combustion of said paint waste.
