  • Patent number: 6330776
Abstract: In the structure for reinforcing a concrete member and the reinforcing method of the present invention, a reinforcing sheet is arranged and joined to a various kinds of concrete member, such as column, beam, wall, floor, and the like, by applying the reinforcing sheet to the surface of the concrete member and attaching to the fixing anchors joined to the concrete member or the other concrete member surrounding the concrete member. The fixing anchor comprises a large amount of reinforcing fiber, and is obtained by bundling a part of the reinforcing fiber. The unbundled portion of the fixing anchor is spread along the surface of the concrete member. The reinforcing sheet is over-lapped to the unbundled portion using resin adhesives. In addition, reinforcing fibers, such as carbon fiber, aramid fiber, glass fiber, and the like are preferably used as the material comprising the fixing anchor and reinforcing sheet. Thereby, the reinforcing member can be joined via the fixing anchor to the concrete members.

  • Patent number: 5049015
Abstract: An anchoring structure comprises an anchor rod which is secured to the inside of an anchor hole in concrete by a cementing material except for an upper section of the rod having a depth of at least 1.5 times the diameter of the anchor hole. The upper end of the anchor rod may be surrounded by an insulating sleeve which fits into the upper section of the anchor hole. The anchor rod may have a continuous groove formed therein, at least one surface of which has a slope of 15.degree.-50.degree.. The depth of the groove is at least as large as the maximum crack width expected to appear around the anchor in the concrete.

  • Patent number: 4876143
Abstract: A rob material includes an elongated matrix made of synthetic resin, a plurality of first elongated textile elements, and a plurality of second elongated textile elements, the first and second elements being embeded within the matrix, parallel to each other along the matrix, each of the first elements being composed of a plurality of yarns braided together, the second elements having a lower breaking elongation rate than said first elements. In such a rod material, the second elements have a substantially complete elasticity, and the first elements have such an elongation rate as to elongate further after the fracture of the second elements. Therefore, the stress-strain curve of the rod material shows a high elastic modulus in the elastic region and a high breaking elongation rate. In other words, the stress-strain behavior is similar to that of steel rods.

  • Patent number: 4873145
Abstract: A substantially water-resistant resin-coated aggregate for use in concrete includes a porous aggregate body, such as an artificial light weight aggregate, with an elastic layer made of a phenol resin elastomer deposited on the aggregate body, a rigid phenol resin coated on the elastic covered aggregate body. This resin-coated aggregate has a high water absorption prevention and further an external stress-damping function.

  • Patent number: 4758295
Abstract: A method of stopping leakage of water in a concrete structure comprising injecting a hydrophilic one component type polyurethane prepolymer or an impregnating agent which is prepared by adding cement to such polyurethane prepolymer into a hermetically sealed chamber formed in a leaking part of the concrete structure, whereby the polyurethane prepolymer foams and cures through reaction with water leaking in the concrete structure and the foamed prepolymer is forced to enter all cracks in the leaking part of the concrete structure by means of foaming pressure and volume expansion caused by the reaction, thereby caulking and hermetically sealing the cracks, and thus restoring the strength and watertightness of the concrete structure.

  • Patent number: 4722861
Abstract: A lightweight aggregate which is inexpensive and excellent in both resistance to freezing and thawing and resistance to water absorption and a process for preparation of such lightweight aggregate are disclosed. In this lightweight aggregate, a gel material is filled in at least open pores in the surface layer of a lightweight porous aggregate among a multiplicity of open pores therein. The preparation process includes the steps of injecting a raw material solution for gel formation in at least open pores in the surface layer of a lightweight porous aggregate among a multiplicity of open pores therein, and allowing the material solution to gel, thereby forming a gel material in at least the open pores in said surface layer so as to fill them with the gel material.

  • Patent number: 4687517
Abstract: The present invention provides a concrete composition having a heat resisting property and dimensional stability, which comprises a cement selected from the group consisting of a self-hardening cement, a latent hydraulic material, a mixed cement and a thermosetting cement, a hydraulic material, an aggregate, a carbonaceous material acting as a binder and selected from the group consisting of a powdered coke and pitch coke, and potassium titanate whisker. Since the concrete composition of the invention is resistant to firing and can be used at a high temperature, a solidified mass prepared therefrom can be applied with a glaze and heated to have an enamelled surface.
