  • Patent number: 6706683
Abstract: A method of controlling granule secretion comprising performing a treatment to increase or decrease an active form of calgranulin on a cell line having capability of secreting granules, thereby increasing or decreasing granule secretion from the cell line. A method of detecting a substance which inhibits or activates the granule secretion reaction by applying this controlling method. An active form of calgranulin is increased by making the cells permeabilized cells and adding a calgranulin and soluble calcium. Decrease of an active form of calgranulin is carried out by introducing a calgranulin antibody into cells. The method is useful for screening a substance which inhibits or activates granule secretion.

  • Patent number: 6533060
Abstract: An all terrain vehicle comprises a frame supported by at least a left wheel and a right wheel. The left wheel and the right wheel being connected to said frame by a left suspension and a right suspension respectively. The independently suspended wheels preferably are drive wheels. The wheels are driven by an engine through a transmission. The transmission is connected to the left wheel by a left half shaft and to the right wheel by a right half shaft. Constant velocity couplings are used to coupling the half shafts to the respective wheels and to the transmission. The constant velocity couplings connecting the two half shafts to the transmission are joined in a single housing. The housing includes a body portion and a gear portion. The two portions can be integrally formed. A left cage and a right cage are mounted within a left axial bore and a right axial bore formed in the body portion. The cages are secured for rotation with the body portion but can move axially within the respective bores.

  • Patent number: 6076624
Abstract: A drive layout for an offroad vehicle. The vehicle has a frame, at least two wheels supporting the frame, and an internal combustion engine supported by the frame. The engine has at least one cylinder, a piston positioned in the cylinder and reciprocating along a first axis. The piston drives an output shaft of the engine which is arranged to drive at least one of the wheels through a transmission. The vehicle has a longitudinal centerline, with the output shaft of the engine extending transverse to the centerline. The transmission includes a main shaft driven by the output shaft by a belt extending along a second axis. The main shaft drives a drive shaft which extends parallel to the centerline and which is arranged to drive at least one of the wheels. The layout is arranged such that the first axis and second axis are positioned on opposite sides of the centerline.
