  • Patent number: 8387577
Abstract: A phase changing device for automobile engine, the device comprising curved first guide grooves formed in the control rotor, each groove skewed with respect to a circumference of a circle centered at the rotational axis; oblique guide grooves each groove formed in the middle rotor and extending at an angle with respect to a radius crossing the groove; second guide grooves formed in the drive rotor and skewed with respect to the circumference of a circle centered at the rotational axis, block sections each extending along, and movable in, the respective first guide; first slide members each protruding from the respective block section for engagement with, and for movement in, the respective skewed guide groove; and phase varying members each having a second slide member that extends through an escape groove formed in the middle rotor and engages the respective second guide groove to move in the second guide groove.

  • Patent number: 8151751
Abstract: [Object] To keep an air-gap between an electromagnetic clutch and a magnet within a predetermined range even if a camshaft vibrates in a radial direction. [Achieving Means] A bearing 26 and a stopper 51 are attached to a stepped part 20c of an inner cylinder part 20, the bearing 26 is supported by a C ring 28 inserted in a groove 44c of a rotational drum 44, a bearing 52 is attached to a stepped part 51a formed on the side of the outer periphery of the stopper 51, an inner sidewall 122c of an electromagnetic clutch 42 is supported by the bearing 52, the bearing 52 is supported by a clip 128 attached to an annular groove 127 formed in the inner sidewall 122c, the rotational drum 44 is supported by the bearing 26 prevented from moving in an axial direction, the electromagnetic clutch 42 is supported by the bearing 52 prevented from moving in the axial direction, and an air-gap AG between the electromagnetic clutch 42 and the magnet 45 of the rotational drum 44 is easily managed.

  • Patent number: 7992531
Abstract: Heat generation is not caused by friction in a phase varying apparatus for use with a vehicle engine. A phase varying apparatus for use with a vehicle engine varies the opening/closing timing of an intake valve or an exhaust valve. The phase varying apparatus includes a rotary drum (44A) screwed to an intermediate member (30); an electromagnetic clutch (42) including a plurality of magnets (80) that are fixedly arranged at predetermined intervals along the circumferential direction of the rotary drum and that are magnetized alternately in opposite directions and a coil wound around an iron core (60); and ferromagnetic-material-made magnetic flux induction members (82, 84) having a plurality of claws (82B, 84B) close to magnetic poles of a magnet, having a slight gap between the iron core and the magnetic flux induction member, and forming a magnetic path (85) made up of the iron core and the magnets. The magnetic flux induction member is fixed to an outer cylinder part (10) or to an inner cylinder part (20).

  • Publication number: 20110000450
Abstract: Objects The invention provides a phase changing device for automobile engine capable of preventing an unanticipated change in phase angle between the middle rotor and the camshaft of the device caused by a disturbing torque while preventing frictional wear of the inner circumferential walls of groove guides and avoiding generation of axial thrusts of links of the device. Means for Solving the Problems A phase changing device for automobile engine, having a drive rotor, an middle rotor, and a control rotor, all arranged to rotate about a common rotational axis, the device controlling the control rotor so as to vary the relative phase angle between the drive rotor and middle rotor.
