  • Patent number: 6170471
Abstract: A cylinder head and high pressure mechanical fuel pump drive for an overhead cam shaft internal combustion engine. The cylinder head in the area of one of its cam shafts is formed with an extending ledge to which a fuel pump mounting member is affixed. This ledge and the mounting member are formed with a bore that receives a cylindrical portion of the housing of the fuel pump and which portion journals the pump driveshaft. A simple O-ring seal seals the pump mechanism in this area from the cam shaft chamber and facilitates a driving connection between the end of the cam shaft and the pump driveshaft.

  • Patent number: 6104681
Abstract: In the disk apparatus of the present invention, a head unit records and/or reproduces information on the disk while the disk is rotating. An actuator activates a positioning of the head at target position of the disk. An error detection section detects an error signal between the target position and a position of the head unit activated by the actuator. A tracking compensation section outputs a driving signal of the actuator in order according to the error signal. A decision section decides whether an absolute value of a difference between the driving signals is above a threshold. A predetermined value output section outputs a predetermined value to compensate the driving signal if the absolute value of the difference is above the threshold. An actuator driving section drives the actuator according to the driving signal and the predetermined value.

  • Patent number: 5997774
Abstract: The present invention provides a paste for forming an internal electrode in a ceramic element. The paste causes no sudden heat generation from an organic vehicle contained therein during a degreasing step and allows Pd or Ag/Pd serving as an internal electrode to expand freely as a result of oxidation during a firing step, to thereby prevent structural defects of the ceramics such as delamination, when used for the formation of internal electrodes in a ceramic element such as a laminated ceramic capacitor. The paste contains a metal powder of Pd or Ag/Pd, Pd resinate, Cr resinate and an organic vehicle. Preferably, the Pd resinate contains sulfur in the molecule. Also preferably, the paste contains the Pd resinate in an amount of about 2.0-3.0 parts by weight as Pd, based on 100 parts by weight of Pd in the metal powder, and the Cr resinate in an amount of about 0.03-0.12 parts by weight as Cr.sub.2 O.sub.3, based on 100 parts by weight of the metal powder.

  • Patent number: 5956303
Abstract: The amount of inclination of an optical beam relative to the surface of an optical disk as a target is detected by a disk inclination detector. When a track jump instruction is generated, a track jump controller determines whether or not the inclination amount is within a predetermined range in which tracking control and a track jump operation can be performed in a stable manner. If the inclination amount is within the predetermined range, the track jump operation is started. As a result, the track jump operation to a target track can be performed in a stable and reliable manner.

  • Patent number: 5127370
Abstract: An improved compact induction system for a V type engine including a pair of plenum chambers disposed in the valley of the V. The plenum chambers are shorter than the respective cylinder banks and serve high speed intake passages of the respective cylinder bank and some longer, low speed intake passages of the adjacent cylinder bank and some low speed intake passages of the other cylinder bank. All of the low speed intake passages have the same length.

  • Patent number: 5033421
Abstract: A camshaft drive arrangement for a V type engine having a pair of flexible transmitters that drive intermediate shafts which, in turn, drive respective camshafts associated with the respective cylinder banks. A combined flexible transmitter and guide member is disposed between the flexible transmitters that drive the intermediate shafts for tensioning one of these flexible transmitters and acting as a guide for the other of them.

  • Patent number: 5016579
Abstract: An improved induction system for a V type engine having angularly disposed cylinder banks that is comprised of a pair of plenum chambers that are disposed in side by side relationship between the cylinder banks. Intake passages extend at right angles from each plenum chamber through the other plenum chamber and serve an intake port of the opposed cylinder bank. The plenum chambers are staggered relative to each other so as to provide a void at one end of the engine in which an accessory is positioned. An intake device supplies air to the plenum chambers and it extends beneath them and is connected by fasteners which are accessible through removable covers of each of the plenum chambers.

  • Patent number: 5005536
Abstract: Two embodiments of compact high performance induction systems for V type engines that include pairs of plenum chambers that extend over the respective cylinder banks. First pairs of runners extend from an inlet opening in each plenum chamber to an outlet opening that communicates with the cylinder of the opposite bank. Second pairs of intake passages are provided which extend from inlet openings in the respective plenum chambers to outlet openings in the cylinders of the adjacent cylinder head. The first intake passages have portions that extend through the other plenum chambers and the second intake passages communicate with the cylinders through these intermediate portions. The intermediate portions are curved and in one embodiment the second intake passages are tangential to these curved portions and in the other embodiment they are radial to it.
