Abstract: Various embodiments of the present disclosure provide a gaming system and method for informing a player of the benefit of higher denomination game play by determining if a latter award would have been provided for a play of a game had the game been played at a higher denomination and, if so, indicating that the award would have been larger had the higher denomination been employed. In one embodiment, the gaming system displays an outcome of a play of a game and displays an award based on the displayed outcome. The gaming system determines, based on the displayed outcome, a missed award that would have bean determined had the game been played at a higher denomination. If the missed award is greater than the displayed award, the gaming system displays an indication that a larger award would have been won had the game been played at the higher denomination.
