  • Patent number: 11466940
Abstract: Flow conditioner device (40), for use in a heat exchanger system (10). The flow conditioner device includes a honeycomb structure (42) and a mesh (44). The honeycomb structure is configured for rectifying an incoming gas flow (26), and is formed by walls that border channels extending in a flow direction (X) from inlet apertures at a leading surface, to respective outlet apertures at a trailing surface of the honeycomb structure. The mesh is formed by a plurality of wires that extend along further directions (Y, Z) transverse to the flow direction, and which are mutually spaced to define openings. The mesh is attached directly to the honeycomb structure and abuts the second surface, and cross-sectional areas of the openings defined along the further directions vary as a function of position along at least one of the further directions.

  • Publication number: 20160341493
Abstract: A wire spacer (20) for spacing two adjacent heat transfer plates (2, 4) of a plate type heat exchanger (1). The wire spacer (20) is formed by a bent wire (22) that is alternatingly abutting the two adjacent heat transfer plates (2, 4), while extending along the fluid channel (6, 8) of the heat exchanger (1). The wire spacer (20) has first and second support segments (24, 26) providing a plate supporting function, and spacing segments (28) for maintaining a minimal vertical spacing (?y) between the heat transfer plates (2, 4) during heat exchanger operation. The first lower support segments (24) are formed by wire paths (32) that span a plane (S1) coinciding with a top surface of the lower heat transfer plate (2), and allow the wire spacer (20) to keep its orientation fixed with respect to the heat transfer plates.

  • Patent number: 4265732
Abstract: The invention is a method of handling the enthalpy of reaction of fast homogeneous gas-phase chemical reactions, by using mechanical energy in the form of work performed by moving surfaces in contact with the reactants, for adding energy to or removing energy from the gaseous reactants. Transfer of energy is obtained by adiabatic compression or expansion of the gas, or by adiabatic dissipation of mechanical energy into heat. The invention further relates to an apparatus for carrying out fast homogeneous gas phase chemical reactions wherein the said principles are applied in the reactor and to a process for cracking hydrocarbons wherein the said principle is applied in the reactor.
